Black Ops 7 PC Security Settings: Combat Hackers Like Battlefield 6

In the ongoing battle against hackers in PC gaming, major publishers are adopting various measures to keep gameplay fair. Activision is stepping up its game to enhance security in Black Ops 7, joining the ranks of franchises like Battlefield.

Today, Activision announced that Black Ops 7 will enforce Secure Boot along with Trusted Platform Module (TPM 2.0) and its RICOCHET Anti-Cheat system. This initiative aims to significantly reduce the rampant cheating that has plagued Call of Duty for years.

Activision stated, “When you play multiplayer, your PC connects to our servers to enable online play. If TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot are activated, Windows performs a security check at startup. The results are shared with us, confirming your system hasn’t been tampered with. The final check occurs on our servers, ensuring the process is secure.

To address privacy concerns, Activision clarified that this process does not allow access to personal files or information; it solely verifies that your system booted cleanly.

Recently, some PC FPS gamers encountered a Secure Boot error while trying to access the Battlefield 6 open beta, suggesting this might set a new industry standard. Activating Secure Boot requires navigating your PC’s BIOS settings, a task that may frustrate many players.

Personally, I’m not keen on dealing with Secure Boot, as I prefer not to fiddle with my computer’s configurations. Moving forward, I plan to stick with console versions of games like Battlefield 6 and BO7—my PS5 Pro needs some gaming action too.

“Protecting the Call of Duty experience is Team RICOCHET’s highest priority,” they stated. “Cheating and hacking challenge all major games, and we’re committed to leading the industry fight against unfair play. Our goal is clear: to be at the forefront of anti-cheat innovation. We’re in this for the long haul.”

What does Secure Boot do for gamers? Secure Boot adds a layer of verification to ensure the integrity of your PC before you start gaming, helping prevent cheating and hacks.

Why is TPM 2.0 important? TPM 2.0 securely stores encryption keys used for authenticating your hardware, adding another level of security to your gaming experience.

How does RICOCHET Anti-Cheat work? RICOCHET uses advanced technology to detect cheating software and works in the background to maintain fair play within the Call of Duty ecosystem.

As the gaming world gears up for these changes, it’s crucial to stay informed about advancements in security practices. For more insights on gaming trends and updates, don’t forget to check out Moyens I/O.
