The rivalry between Battlefield 6 and Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 has gamers buzzing with anticipation, particularly as their release dates draw near. Although BO7 is scheduled to launch just a month after BF6, discussions about which title holds the edge seem to dominate online conversations.
After the full reveal of BO7 at Gamescom, gaming forums have been flooded with comments favoring BF6. Many players praised the open beta for BF6, which has amassed an impressive 2.7 million wishlists on Steam, a number that’s only expected to grow.

BO7 is a direct successor to Black Ops 6, a title that only debuted last year. Feedback across the internet indicates that the excitement surrounding BF6 vastly surpasses that for BO7.
The gameplay reveal for BO7 has sparked a significant amount of criticism in the comments section, while BF6 is receiving accolades. One YouTube user remarked, “This actually made me pre-order Battlefield 6,” earning over 105,000 likes—far exceeding the 42,000 likes of the actual gameplay video itself, which boasts over 28 million views.
Community polls, even from reputable sources like ModernWarzone, reveal a staggering 72 percent of participants chose BF6 over BO7. However, as they say, ultimately it will come down to which game players choose to buy.
At present, BF6 appears to be holding the upper hand in the FPS gaming arena. But how will this affect BO7 sales? Call of Duty has consistently enjoyed blockbuster sales each year, so it might remain resilient no matter the buzz around BF6.
Some players will undoubtedly switch to BF6, yet many prefer the familiar gameplay style of CoD. I can relate, as I’ve enjoyed the beta of BF6 but suspect it won’t keep my loyalty long-term.
WOW – 72% of voters said they were more excited for Battlefield 6 than Black Ops 7 post-reveal. Another decisive victory for BF6, especially considering the majority of my following is for Call of Duty. Sample Size: 20,682 pic.twitter.com/t5Zdr19GaL

Personally, I doubt I’ll spend much time on BO7 outside of work commitments. However, the campaign mode, Zombies, and the nostalgia of multiplayer still hold considerable appeal for me compared to BF6.
The sentiment may shift once the BO7 beta drops in October. Players will then have an opportunity to experience both titles, potentially changing their preferences. Only time will reveal how the gaming community reacts.
