Pokemon GO Dialga Raid Guide: Best Counters, Weaknesses & How to Catch

Dialga is a Dragon/Steel type Pokemon, which is actually a pretty rare combination. It’s one of only four Pokemon with this typing (the other being Duraludon, Goodra, and Sliggoo), giving it some interesting strengths and weaknesses. It’s particularly useful for Master League battles and can hold its own in raids, too. The best part? You can get a shiny version if you’re lucky. Want this handy Pokemon? How to Catch Dialga in Pokemon GO

Let’s talk about catching Dialga. It can be tricky, but we have some tips that help. First, you should know that it has a high catch rate of 2%, but don’t let that discourage you. We recommend you carry this raid with at least 4-6 Pokemon GO trainers.

When you’re on the catch screen, watch how Dialga moves. It likes to hang out in the middle of the screen and has a simple attack animation where it rears back and roars. After each attack, there’s a perfect window to throw your ball as this is when you want to strike.

The berry strategy is straightforward. Use Golden Razz Berries are your best friend here. Regular Razz Berries work, too, but Golden Razz gives you the best odds. If you’re running low on Golden Razz, save them for when Dialga has good CP ranges, which are:

Regular encounter: 2300
Weather boosted (Snowy/Windy): 2850

For throwing technique, you’ll want to go for curveballs. Start spinning your ball in the bottom corner of your screen, and when Dialga finishes attacking, throw it up at about a 45-degree angle. The target circle is pretty big, so you can consistently hit “Excellent” throws with some practice.

Dialga gets a boost in Snow and Windy conditions. While this means a higher CP, it also means a slightly better catch rate. Just keep in mind you’ll need stronger counters to beat it.

If you catch Dialga during a Raid Hour (January 29 and February 5), make sure to have plenty of Golden Razz Berries and Premier Balls ready. Try to raid at gyms your team controls and raid with Best Friends when possible – these little bonuses add up to give you more Premier Balls for catching.

Can Dialga be Shiny?

Shiny Dialga Pokemon GO

Yes, Shiny Dialga is available in Pokemon GO! Shiny Dialga features a distinctive teal coloring instead of its usual deep blue. While the shiny rate for Legendary raids is approximately 1/20, getting a shiny is never guaranteed. You’ll need to participate in multiple raids to increase your chances.

Dialga remains one of the most valuable Pokemon to add to your collection, especially for Master League PvP and raids. With its powerful stats, unique typing, and variety of uses, it’s worth investing the time and resources to catch a good one during its current raid rotation.
