StarRupture‘s early access build has plenty of bugs in Arcadia-7, and I am not talking about software glitches.
You’re not alone on the alien planet; different bugs will aim to make your life miserable. They’ll attack your base, and you’ll also find them when traveling. The good news is that every type of bug you encounter has specific weaknesses you can exploit.
As a long-time gamer, I’ve faced my share of digital creepy crawlies, but the swarms in StarRupture? They’re on another level! These aren’t your average, run-of-the-mill insects. So, how do you squash these digital pests? Most of them will appear in hordes, making it harder for you to take them down. They differ in size, movement speed, and attack style.
How to Defeat All Enemies in StarRupture
Let’s get into the nitty-gritty of bug squashing in StarRupture. I’ll walk you through each type and how to send them back to whatever hole they crawled out of. I once spent a solid hour trying to figure out the best strategy against the Jumpers. Talk about frustrating! But don’t worry, I’ve learned from my mistakes, and now you can too.
| Bug types | How to defeat them |
|---|---|
| Flinger | These are nasty because they can attack from a distance. Keep track of where the blobs come from. Dodge the blob, and close the distance as much as you can. They’re squishy, and a few bullets will usually do the trick. Try to have a steady aim since they move a lot. |
| Jumpers | Jumpers are aggressive and look like larger black widows. They move fast and jump at you from a distance. Dodge their jumps. Their mouth is their weak spot, but it can be tough to aim when you also have to dodge. |
| Smaller Jumpers | Like Jumpers, but younger. They are smaller and have a gray trim. You can shoot them; they’re easy to take down. |
| Bombers | These blue bugs have sacs that explode for big damage. The explosion also stops your shields. Stay away from the explosion’s range. If that’s not possible, move out of the immediate radius. To take them down, shoot the sac, but also keep your distance. |
| Throwers | Like Bombers, Throwers have sacs, but they’re green. Instead of exploding, the sacs grow, and the bug spits the green stuff on you. Keep moving to avoid the attack, and keep shooting at the sac. |
The exact in-game names for these bugs might be different; I have yet to find out. I have named them based on their behavior (and how their attacks work). There’s the Goliath as well, which is a massive beast. I have mostly avoided this large bug, but a dedicated guide is in the works.
What is the best weapon to use against the Flingers in StarRupture?
For Flingers, a weapon with good accuracy and a decent fire rate is ideal. A rifle or even a well-aimed pistol can work wonders. The key is to take them down quickly before they can launch too many projectiles.
How can you effectively dodge the Jumper’s attacks?
Timing is everything. Watch for the telltale signs that they are about to leap, and then dodge to the side. Strafe around them to make yourself a harder target while keeping their weak spot in sight.
Are there any environmental hazards I can use against the bugs?
Keep an eye out for explosive barrels or other environmental hazards that you can lure the bugs near. A well-placed explosion can take out a whole swarm.
What’s the best strategy for dealing with a Bomber explosion?
Distance! When you see a Bomber getting ready to blow, create as much space as possible between you and it. If you can’t get away completely, try to find cover behind a rock or other obstacle.
Should I focus on upgrading my shield or my weapon first?
This depends on your play style, but in general, upgrading your weapon first can give you the edge you need to take down bugs faster, reducing the overall damage you take. However, a stronger shield can buy you valuable time to react and reposition.
I hope this helps you survive a little longer on Arcadia-7! Got any other tips for bug squashing? Share them in the comments below; what’s your go-to tactic when facing a horde of Jumpers?
