The sun dipped below the horizon in Quarantine Zone, casting long shadows that danced with the undead. I was pinned down, low on ammo, as one of the “Lone Walkers” shambled closer. Three zombies stand between you and another completed quest, but their locations aren’t always obvious; let’s get you sorted.
The Lone Walkers is a Bulletin Board quest sending you zombie hunting in Quarantine Zone: The Last Check.
The quest itself isn’t too hard, especially with your gun at this stage. The tricky part is pinpointing those undead freeloaders, due to some quirks in the game. Here’s what you need to wrap up this quest quickly.
Starting the Hunt for Lone Walkers
It’s day 21 in the Quarantine Zone. You check the Bulletin Board, hoping for an easy payday to support the survivors. The Lone Walkers quest appears. Interact with the notification, and the quest activates. Your mission: eliminate three zombies. Think of them as weeds; if you don’t pull them, they spread.

What happens if zombies aren’t dealt with?
Unattended zombies amplify the horde’s attraction to your base, jeopardizing your survivors. Let’s find these lurking threats.
Zombie Locations: A Step-by-Step Guide
I remember when my squad’s perimeter alarm blared at 3 AM because a single zombie wandered too close. Turns out, preventing the horde is less about brute force and more about vigilance. Two of the three zombies are prowling outside your base, so let’s deal with the one inside first. Head to the Garage region; that’s where you’ll find the first target.

Guns up when you go in; no sense taking chances. The zombie should be plainly visible. A shot to the head puts it down permanently. Next, it’s time for perimeter patrol. Make your way to the watchtowers overlooking the backside of your outpost.
With the Garage cleared, use the doors to access the watchtowers. From this vantage point, you can eliminate the two remaining zombies lurking outside. Remember, additional zombies may appear, but taking down two from this location should fulfill the quest requirements without complications. This quest is like a clogged drain; if you only clear part of it, you’ll still have problems.
What if the Garage zombie doesn’t appear?
Occasionally, the zombie in the Garage might decide to play hide-and-seek and not spawn. If this happens, restart the day and try again. Important: if you’ve set up automated defense turrets near the Garage, temporarily deactivate them. You don’t want them accidentally triggering before you’re ready. Also, avoid shooting anyone outside the main entrance; those are civilians. Killing them not only reduces your potential survivor pool but also carries severe penalties, hitting your resource pool hard.
Why am I penalized for shooting civilians?
Maintaining order and trust is vital for long-term survival. Think of your outpost as a fragile ecosystem; every action has consequences. Killing civilians creates chaos, reduces morale, and diminishes your chances of attracting new, valuable survivors. It’s a path to ruin, plain and simple.
With the Lone Walkers quest completed, your base is secure, and you’ve earned a valuable reward. But are you really ready for what comes next?
