ARC Raiders Update: Fixes Item Exploit (1.12.0)

ARC Raiders Season 2: Complete Weapon Case Location Guide

The flash of the explosion still stung my eyes. My squad was pinned, ammo was low, and then I remembered the glitch. A quick menu juggle, and suddenly, a fresh pile of grenades materialized—enough to turn the tide. But now, that crutch is gone; the world of ARC Raiders has changed.

ARC Raiders 1.12.0 update is now live on PC and consoles, and this patch targets exploits that were being used by many.

The second patch of the year is focused. It brings fairness, as players won’t be able to use the item and ammo duplication methods anymore. Here’s what’s new.

Complete ARC Raiders 1.12.0 update patch notes

Ever walk into a store and find everything rearranged? That’s the feeling with the ARC Raiders 1.12.0 update: things have shifted. There are two parts: store rotation and fixes. The new store rotation is live, with new in-game items. Spend your Raider Tokens if anything catches your eye.

Here’s the list of fixes in the patch.

  • Fixed an item duplication exploit.
  • Fixed an ammo duplication exploit.
  • Fixed some cases where players were able to damage others from behind geometry.
  • Fixed various out-of-bounds map locations on Stella Montis

The first two changes stand out. Duplicating ammo and items was simple. If you had one item for Expedition 2, you could copy it. The same went for ammo.

These exploits are now patched. There were also out-of-bounds locations in Stella Montis. Update your game to solve the problem.

There’s no news about the next expansion for ARC Raiders, or its content.

Why are game developers so quick to patch duplication exploits?

Think of a game’s economy as a delicate ecosystem. When players duplicate items or ammo, it’s like introducing an invasive species. It throws everything out of balance. Suddenly, resources that were meant to be scarce become abundant, devaluing the time and effort of players who play by the rules. This can lead to frustration and, ultimately, players leaving the game. For developers, maintaining a balanced and fair playing field is priority one.

How do duplication exploits even work?

I’ve seen it a hundred times: a tiny flaw in the game’s code can become a goldmine. Most of these exploits rely on manipulating how the game saves or loads data. For example, an exploit might trick the server into thinking you have fewer items than you actually do, allowing you to claim duplicates. Some involve timing-sensitive actions, like quickly transferring items between inventories to create copies. Developers are in a constant arms race, patching these holes as quickly as the community discovers them. They are like whack-a-moles, ever-appearing and needing swift correction.

What happens to players who used duplication exploits?

That depends on the developer’s philosophy. Some studios issue warnings or temporary bans for first-time offenders, while others take a zero-tolerance approach, permanently banning accounts caught exploiting. Often, they will roll back the accounts of cheaters, removing the duplicated items. The goal isn’t just to punish cheaters, but to discourage others from trying the same tactics.

Unfortunately, we have yet to have any confirmed news about when the next expansion will be released in ARC Raiders, and what content it might have.

With these fixes in place, will ARC Raiders feel like a fairer fight, or have the exploits become an integral part of the experience for some?
