I stepped off Moana’s small dock and the wind stole my bearings for a beat. The Memory Orb blinked on the sand, and I knew Pocahontas wasn’t just missing—she was waiting for someone who could read the signs. You’re about to follow those hints, move pieces, and bring her home.
I’ve played this quest across Steam and consoles (Nintendo Switch, Xbox, PlayStation) and watched it trip up new players more than once. I’ll walk you through every choice—what to talk to, where to dig, and how to stop chasing ghosts—so you can recruit Pocahontas without the guesswork. Gameloft designed this as a valley-side scavenger hunt; treat Moana like your on-site guide and the island like a small maze that rewards attention.
Where is Pocahontas in Disney Dreamlight Valley?
Pocahontas isn’t tucked inside a Realm; she’s hidden somewhere in the main valley until you trigger her arrival through Moana’s quest chain. Find the Glowing Algae, follow Moana’s prompts, finish the island tasks, then place her Yehakin in your valley.
How do I start the Whispers in the Wind quest?
Pick up Glowing Algae in Dazzle Beach, then talk to Moana. Place her house in your valley (wherever you like) and speak with her inside; that begins the sequence that leads to the Mystery Island.
On my first run I grabbed a piece of Glowing Algae and almost missed the follow-up — bring the Glowing Algae to Moana
Head into Dazzle Beach and collect the Glowing Algae. Track down Moana and speak with her, then step inside her house and talk to her again. That second chat is what triggers the next interaction—don’t skip it.

I noticed a spark near Moana’s bench the moment I finished talking — use the boating equipment in Moana’s house
After the chat, a white sparkling spot appears near the tropical bench inside her house. Interact with it to use the boating equipment and board the little vessel. You’ll be transported to a strange island; speak with Moana there to continue.
The island felt small and confusing — investigate the Mystery Island for the Swirling Flower Petal Winds
The island is a compass needle in fog. From your landing point, walk past the crafting station and down the beach a little. Spot the lone rock on your right, then take the ramp up the hill behind it.

At the hilltop you’ll find the Swirling Flower Petal Winds. Talk to Moana beside it and then interact with the wind the way she does. Pick any dialogue options to progress; the point is to trigger the Memory Orb drop.
I watched the Memory Orb fall and it opened a map — pick up the Memory Orb
Once the wind responds, a Memory Orb lands nearby. Grab it to reveal an image showing two dig spots. Return to Moana and discuss the Memory to get the next objective.
I spent a few minutes searching the island’s nooks — search the Mystery Island for dig spots
The island is small but dark; keep your bearings. Here’s where the two dig spots are:
- First dig spot: From the Swirling Flower Petal Winds, take the unused ramp on the left down to the beach. Turn right on the sand and head straight until you find three pine trees close together. The dig patch is a small grassy spot beneath them.
- Second dig spot: Return to the ramp you originally climbed. Walk down its base and veer slightly right; the glittering dig spot is in the sand just before it shifts to grass.
Use your Royal Shovel on both spots, then meet Moana back at the winds and show her what you found.
When the new Memory appeared it was scrambled — re-order the jumbled Memory
Talking to Moana creates a new, scrambled Memory. Interact with it to begin piecing it back together. This is the same style of jigsaw logic used in other quests, so start with edge pieces—those with flat borders—then rotate interior pieces into place.

Finish the puzzle, speak with Moana, then follow her to the dock and learn how to steer. The next phase sends you into the water to gather pieces that will complete a necklace.
The boat options present a small decision — interact with the boat on the Mystery Island
On the boat, interact with the golden sparkle to set sail. Choose East: The Mystery Island Rocks to reach the glowing pool you saw in the Memory. Talk to Moana once you arrive.
I circled the wreckage and saw planks floating near the hull — explore the surroundings with the boat to find floating planks
Moana will warn about a whirlpool. To make crossing safer, steer North to The Mystery Island Wreckage. Three sparkling wooden planks float in the water around the boat; pick each one up by hand.

With three planks in hand, return to East: The Mystery Island Rocks and chat with Moana. She’ll let you set the planks down to form a makeshift bridge.
I placed the planks and the path looked fragile — place the planks on the boat
Interact with the sparkling spot near the boat’s edge and place the three planks to create a walkable bridge. Walk out to the end of the planks and prepare your fishing rod.
I felt a pull at the center of the whirlpool — fish out the last Jewelry Piece in the glowing whirlpool
Equip your Royal Fishing Rod and cast into the white ripple at the whirlpool’s center. Reel in the catch to obtain the final missing Jewelry Piece. Once you have it, hop back on the boat and select Let’s go back to the island.

I used the island crafting bench to fix the necklace — repair the Jewelry Piece
After you return to the dock, turn left and open the crafting station. Click Moana’s quest icon and choose Repaired Necklace to fuse the three pieces. Then walk up to the Swirling Flower Petal Winds and chat with Moana; she gives the necklace to the wind and Pocahontas appears.
I hit the sparkle by the oars and it sent me home — return to the valley
Pocahontas will agree to move in. Head down the hill and interact with the sparkling spot by the wooden barrel and oars to return to your valley.
I placed the house outline and the sign let me build for free — place Pocahontas’s Yehakin in the valley
Open your inventory, go to the Furniture tab, and select Moana’s quest icon. Place the outline for Pocahontas’s Yehakin anywhere in the valley; you can move it later. Interact with the Scrooge McDuck sign in front of her house to build it at no cost.

Chat with Pocahontas to wrap up Whispers in the Wind. If the memory pieces felt fragile during the puzzle, remember they’re a sandcastle at high tide—handle them carefully and the story stays intact. Will you place her house next to Moana’s or give her a private corner of the valley to watch the wind?
