Mastering Mounts in RuneScape Dragonwilds: Step-by-Step Guide

RuneScape Dragonwilds has leveled up its gameplay with the recent Fellhollow update, introducing mounts that let you traverse vast areas, including the swift and fierce Terror Bird.

But before you take flight on your new feathered friend, there’s a side quest to complete. Here’s a step-by-step guide to getting your own Terror Bird mount.

How to Start the Terror Bird Quest in RuneScape Dragonwilds

Whether you’re new to the game or returning after a break, your adventure starts in Fellhollow. Head over to the Bleak Fields Valley where three main roads meet. Look for a gap between the paths leading north and west; there, you’ll spot a small structure with an NPC named Vannaka.

Once you chat with Vannaka, he will request three Terror Bird Hearts, kicking off your quest to claim your mount.

Where to Find Willow Groves

The first part of your quest is tracking down Willow Groves, which are clusters of distinct Willow Trees. These groves are home to Terror Birds, and you’ll find them scattered throughout Fellhollow.

Keep in mind, to gather the hearts, you’ll have to hunt three different birds. Each bird drops just one heart, so don’t waste time looking for extras from the same creature—you’ll have to explore various areas.

Top Locations for Catching Terror Birds

Terror Birds roam across the expanse of Fellhollow, but you’ll want to focus on places near water bodies. Vannaka hints to check the lakes, so gear up and hit the spots I’ve highlighted below.

One location is Emberwood, right at the western edge of Fellhollow. The other two spots are at Dragon’s Run and Witchwillow Range. Dragon’s Run lies to your left as you enter Fellhollow, while Witchwillow Range is situated further north.

If you’re a returning player, the hunt for the hearts might feel like a walk in the park. Just remember, these birds pack a punch, and you’ll likely encounter other foes in the area.

You also face Spirit versions of the Terror Birds. When engaged, they inflict bleed damage, making healing items a must. Fighting them can get tricky, but after you’ve brought down three of these mighty creatures, return to Vannaka and claim your prize—the sought-after Terror Bird mount.

How long does it take to complete the Terror Bird quest?

The quest’s duration largely depends on your combat skills. A seasoned player might wrap it up in an hour, while newer players may need a bit more time to gather the necessary hearts.

Are there any tips for defeating the Terror Birds?

Yes! Make sure to stock up on healing items and be aware of their attack patterns. Avoiding their strikes will save you from unnecessary damage. When in battle, strategizing your attacks and defense can make a big difference.

Can I ride the Terror Bird immediately after the quest?

Absolutely! Once you finish the quest, you can summon your Terror Bird and start exploring the vast terrains of RuneScape Dragonwilds.

With your new mount, you’re set to conquer the lands at incredible speed. What adventures await you now? Share your thoughts or experiences below!
