When it comes to ensuring the survivability of New London in Frostpunk 2, factions and politics matter just as much as building infrastructure. If you’re wondering who to trust most, here’s our handy guide for the best factions to earn trust with in Frostpunk 2.
Best Factions to gain trust with in Frostpunk 2
While constructing enough Districts and producing enough necessities such as food and goods are vital to New London surviving the worst of Frostpunk 2’s neverending volcanic winter, earning and maintaining trust with Factions is just as important. After all, it’s incredibly difficult to rule over a populace if more than half of them don’t trust you as a leader or worse, want to overthrow you.
Factions are segmented communities of New London’s population that each have their own backstory, agendas, and worldviews. In Story Mode, they consist of Frostlanders, Pilgrims, Stalwarts, and New Londoners. Among those four, Pilgrims are by far the most idealistic and gravitate towards the “older ways” of survival and “embracing the frost” (a potential choice you make at the end of Chapter 1).
On the other side of the table are the Stalwarts and New Londoners, who prioritize technological innovation and optimized productivity, preferring to “beat the frost” (the other choice you can make at the end of Chapter 1). Frostlanders fall somewhere in the middle in terms of their ideals.
Based on our experiences so far with the political aspects of the game, it’s better to earn trust with Stalwarts and New Londoners. Their agendas often work in tandem with each other, and even better, Frostlanders are easy to persuade as well by proxy. This will mean almost completely ostracizing the Pilgrim faction, but the odds will remain in your favor with three factions under your belt.

While cooperating with the Stalwarts, New Londoners, and hopefully the Frostlanders as well, they’ll support and help push for the establishment of things like Teaching Hospitals for the sick (will help cure and strengthen your workforce), schooling for children to help decrease crime, and more. Their worldviews also fall well in line with Frostpunk 2’s mantra of surviving no matter the cost, so that’s likely why they’re the best choices.
Remember that you can check your Relations with each faction at any time via the faction meters at the bottom of your HUD (as seen above), right above the Trust Meter.
