The A Brief History of Rocks quest is one of two mandatory tasks for completing The Way Into the Mountain quest. Begin your journey at the Remnants of Tetenanco by speaking with the nameless NPC found near the teleport waypoint. You’ll need to clear the rocks surrounding the ruins.
Step 1: Clear Away the Pulverite
Interact with a Tatankasaur Spiritscone and utilize its charge ability to break all Pulverites surrounding the ruins. This action will reveal four Iridescent Inscriptions.
Step 2: Touch the Iridescent Inscriptions
Make sure to interact with all Iridescent Inscriptions near the ruins, except for the one located near the light wall:
- Inscription #1 – Found southeast of the sealed ruin.
- Inscription #2 – Located south of the sealed ruin.
- Inscription #3 – Near the liquid Phlogiston (lava).
Upon collecting the Iridescent Inscription near the liquid Phlogiston, a Fluid Avatar of Lava will spawn. Defeat it to access and touch the Inscription again. After doing this, a cutscene will trigger, causing the light wall on the ruin to vanish.
