Ultimate Beginner's Guide to Universal Piece: Your Essential Resource

Roblox’s Universal Piece has returned, inviting both seasoned players and newcomers into its vibrant world. If you’re new to the game, it can be a bit tricky to navigate. Don’t fret; we’ve all been there. That’s why we’ve created this comprehensive Universal Piece Beginner’s Guide to help you get started!

What is Universal Piece?

Universal Piece is essentially like Blox Fruits but with enhanced graphics and improved quality of life features. If you’ve played Blox Fruits, you’ll find familiar mechanics here. New players will discover a grind-heavy MMORPG based on the One Piece series, where you take on the role of a pirate. Your primary goal is to journey across islands, battle adversaries, and enhance your character through quests that you can replay to level up.

Similar to Blox Fruits, Universal Piece is undeniably grindy. Those who don’t enjoy repetitively battling the same enemies may not find joy here. However, if you thrive on the grind (like many seasoned players do), you’ll feel right at home! You can level up to 10,000, acquiring over 100 levels for most achievements in the game, and with each update, the developers usually expand the level cap and introduce new fruits and islands.

Even though you fight the same enemies, you can switch up your strategies. In line with One Piece, the game features (Devil) Fruits that grant unique abilities, such as elemental attacks or the ability to summon creatures. A key distinction in Universal Piece is that you can change Fruits freely, which adds depth to your gameplay. While some players might opt for traditional weapons, the versatility of Fruits makes them the more popular choice. Ultimately, your power correlates directly with the Fruit you possess.

How to Get Fruits in Universal Piece

Upon entering the game, you’ll receive your first fruit through the Daily Login bonuses. While this starting fruit may not be the strongest, it serves as an excellent introduction. Select it from your hotbar, use it, and enjoy its powers.

Looking for more fruits? Here are several methods to obtain them:

  • Power Gacha – An NPC behind you provides a chance to roll for a random fruit for 100 Gems.
  • Power Dealer – Located upstairs in the same building, this NPC offers fruits for a higher Gems price, and inventory changes regularly. Alternatively, you can purchase a fruit for Robux.
  • Drops from Bosses – Defeated bosses may drop fruits.
  • Found in the Wild – Fruits can be discovered out in the open or gifted by other players, but be cautious of scams.

Remember, you can equip only one fruit at a time. Eating another fruit will eliminate the powers of your currently equipped fruit, so choose wisely! A great way to manage this is to keep a backup of each fruit in your inventory. When you select a fruit to store, it remains available for future use.

If you’d like a fruit permanently, you can pay for it with Robux, but expect this to be quite costly, especially for rare fruits.

How to Level Up in Universal Piece

Your main source of experience comes from completing quests rather than defeating enemies in Universal Piece. Battle without a quest and you may be wasting your time!

Each island features a Quest NPC offering various “Kill 10 X” tasks. For example, Novice Island has a BanditQuest NPC who will send you to eliminate bandits. If you’re uncertain how to progress, Universal Piece includes a useful GuideTracker that shows objectives, NPC locations, and quest tracking.

Completing a quest can reward you with over a hundred levels, but don’t be intimidated; leveling up also provides you with Stat Points. Levels alone don’t count unless you allocate these points, which you can do in the Stats Screen located under the cogwheel icon. Invest these points wisely:

  • Melee – Increases your Energy (mana), useful for hand-to-hand combat.
  • Defense – Boosts your HP and overall resistance against attacks.
  • Weapons – Enhances damage dealt with weapons.
  • Power – Augments damage from your Fruit’s abilities.

It may feel imperative to balance your points, yet many players focus primarily on either Power (if using Fruit) or Weapons. The remainder should go into Melee and Defense.

As you level, aim for approximately 80% of your points in either Power or Weapons with the remaining 20% split between Melee and Defense. While this is merely a guideline, it’s a strategy many adhere to for effective progression, leading you to max out three of the four stats by the time you hit the level cap.

How Fighting Works in Universal Piece

The fighting mechanics in Universal Piece, reminiscent of its source material, are quite straightforward. Enemies typically charge at you, so strike them first. Use your Fruit powers to attack, and evade their hits by moving away. Bosses are stronger but share this same principle; teaming up with other players for boss battles is highly recommended!

Though you can’t parry or dodge, you have access to an effective dash and a double jump—up to ten times! This gives you ample freedom to maneuver throughout the game world.

Player versus Player (PvP) scenarios introduce an exciting twist. While typically the player with the better fruit triumphs, skilled players can sometimes outsmart those with superior powers. Defeating an opponent in PvP earns you their bounty, which increases with the number of enemies you’ve vanquished.

In Universal Piece, various currencies are utilized:

  • Yen – The basic currency for minor expenses like renting ships or crafting fees, commonly earned through defeating enemies or finishing quests.
  • Gems – The premium currency for buying fruits and engaging in higher-level activities. Earned through Daily Quests, fishing, and rare drops from bosses. For extensive farming strategies, check out our Universal Piece Gem Farming Guide.
  • Materials – Specific items dropped by certain enemies, useful for various crafting needs, including weapons.

How to Get Weapons in Universal Piece

Acquiring weapons differs somewhat from obtaining fruits. First, locate the right Weapon Vendor. The GuideTracker can lead you to Weapon NPCs and detail what they each offer. When speaking with a Weapon NPC, ask them what materials are required for crafting a weapon. These materials are generally available on the same island.

Unlike fruits, you won’t lose your weapons when switching to a new one, making it enjoyable to collect them, even if you don’t need them all.
