Master Emoting in Elden Ring Nightreign: A Guide

Master Emoting in Elden Ring Nightreign: A Guide

Emotes and gestures have been an integral part of FromSoftware games since the iconic Dark Souls. Their reintroduction in the multiplayer setting of Elden Ring Nightreign is not surprising. Packed with charming animations mostly derived from its predecessor—which won Game of the Year in 2022—this game allows players to communicate emotions effectively with teammates. However, the game doesn’t always clarify how to access these emotes. Here’s a quick guide on how to use emotes in Elden Ring Nightreign.

How to Use Emotes and Gestures in Elden Ring Nightreign

To initiate an emote in Nightreign, simply pause the game and then press ‘1’ on your keyboard, the Triangle button on PlayStation, or the Y button on Xbox. This action opens the gestures menu. Once there, choose the emote you’d like to perform and then press ‘left click’ on your mouse, the cross button on PlayStation, or the A button on Xbox.

There are at least 16 emotes in the gestures menu, making navigation a bit cumbersome. To simplify things, you can highlight your favorite gestures and place them at the top by selecting them and pressing ‘2’ on your keyboard, the Square button on PlayStation, or the X button on Xbox.

Keep in mind that using an emote locks you into the animation, and some gestures cannot be canceled. Choose your timing wisely!
