Marvel Rivals Season 3: Ultimate Tier List Breakdown

Marvel Rivals Season 3 is here, and it’s making waves with new skins and character adjustments that are shaking up the tier list. If you’re eager to enhance your gameplay, it’s time to dive deep into the current meta and discover what’s changed.

In this season, players can experiment with two fresh characters: Blade and Phoenix. While the vampire hunter Blade lands in August, Phoenix is already part of the roster. With over 30 characters transitioning from previous seasons, it’s essential to understand how they stack up in the current game dynamics.

Disclaimer: Phoenix is still being evaluated.

The Complete Marvels Rivals Season 3 Hero Tier List

As you explore this tier list, consider these important factors:

  • My experience comes mainly from solo queue play, which often differs from team-based strategies where communication significantly enhances performance.
  • As a Strategist main with Vanguard as my secondary, I occasionally dabble in DPS units. However, my primary expertise lies with characters like Luna Snow or Venom.
  • Your rank deeply influences the tier list. Higher ranks often prove that even lower-tier characters can shine, given the skill level is elevated.

S-Rank

Hero Role Reason
Dr. Strange Vanguard Still a top pick in the poke meta, thanks to his Shield of Seraphim, which is the best shield available. His buffs from Season 2.5 really allow players to carry games. Absent a substantial meta shift, he’s a solid Vanguard choice.
Magneto Vanguard One of the trickiest Vanguards to master, but worth the effort. Despite longer cooldowns, he can eliminate 250 HP units in one hit. If you’re experienced, Magneto is an unbeatable choice.
Hawkeye Duelist After receiving buffs in Season 2, Hawkeye can easily take out Strategist and Duelist characters. Mastering his aim can propel you to Diamond rank or beyond.
Hela Duelist Known for her potent ultimate, Hela gains a significant advantage from her abilities. Her synergy with Loki makes her an even more formidable choice this season.
Namor Duelist With unparalleled synergy alongside Hulk, Namor’s auto-firing turrets can be devastating against aerial units. He’s likely to maintain his strong position in the meta.
Luna Snow Strategist Recognized as the game’s best healer, Luna Snow can dish out damage while providing crucial support to teammates. Mastering her can lead to significant team advantages.
Rocket Raccoon Strategist Despite a limited weapon range, Rocket proves invaluable with his mobility and AoE healing skills. His character is perfect for beginners due to his straightforward mechanics.
Loki Strategist Loki may present a learning curve, but his ability to create tactical illusions combined with healing and escape maneuvers can make him a game-changer in skilled hands.

A-Tier

Hero Role Reason
Venom Vanguard After receiving a boost in Season 3, Venom offers better survivability and tanking potential. Initial rounds with him have shown great promise.
Emma Frost Vanguard Once heralded as the top tank, she still delivers flexibility and unique shields, but her Diamond form isn’t as strong as before, perhaps less optimal in solo queue.
Hulk Vanguard A very robust tank, especially when paired with Namor. However, landing his jumps requires finesse.
Groot Vanguard Always a reliable choice, Groot excels in defensive scenarios. His ultimate can shift the battle’s tide—but recent nerfs have impacted his effectiveness.
Peni Parker Vanguard With buffs improving her play, Peni can be a game-changer, yet her Ultimate may hold her back at higher match levels.
Black Widow Duelist Though not stellar at higher ranks, Black Widow’s ease of use makes her accessible for newcomers while still offering decent damage potential.
Star-Lord Duelist Star-Lord might be challenging to master, but his abilities are still potent, making him a worthy investment for ambitious players.
Punisher Duelist As a beginner-friendly DPS, Punisher balances an effective kit, allowing for both ranged and close-combat strategies.
Storm Duelist While her recent nerfs impacted her standing, Storm can still shine with good aim and adept positioning.
Invisible Woman Strategist Known for her healing and attacking prowess, she requires skillful play to leverage her advantages effectively.
Ultron Strategist Maintaining a crucial role, Ultron’s healing and damage potential continues to offer unique strategies in gameplay.
Cloak and Dagger Strategist While her previous glory might be fading, the buffs from Season 2 lend her formidable skills for rookie players.
Mantis Strategist While specializing in damage, Mantis needs to time her healing right to avoid turning the tide against her team.

B-Tier

Character Role Reason
Captain America Vanguard His unique rush tactics provide an edge, yet nerfs have left him vulnerable compared to earlier seasons.
The Thing Vanguard Despite recent buffs, he struggles against flying units and relies heavily on team support.
Thor Vanguard A jack-of-all-trades, he lacks strong CC protection, making him overshadowed in the current tank meta.
Human Torch Duelist Though a force at high elo, he’s challenging for beginners due to cooldowns and control issues.
Iron Fist Duelist Once formidable, he now has better alternatives who can perform his flanking role more efficiently.
Mister Fantastic Duelist With potential for recovery and stealth attacks, he remains viable in expert hands.
Psylocke Duelist As a flanker, her ultimate can be countered easily, placing her a tier below in the competitive scene.
Winter Soldier Duelist His Bionic Hook ability is strong, but the current meta doesn’t favor him.
Wolverine Duelist With potential to solo Vanguards, he requires significant setup, making him less effective in fast-paced games.

C-Tier

While some characters in C-tier might not excel, they still bring unique traits. If you’re passionate about playing these characters, feel free to explore:

  • Black Panther (Duelist)
  • Iron Man (Duelist)
  • Magik (Duelist)
  • Moon Knight (Duelist): Acceptable for beginners but falls short at higher elos.
  • Spider-Man (Duelist): Needs thorough assessment following recent buffs.
  • Squirrel Girl (Duelist)
  • Adam Warlock (Strategist)
  • Jeff the Land Shark (Strategist): Frustration from players is heard loud and clear.

As the game evolves, stay tuned for dynamic updates to character rankings and strategies. Whether you’re looking to climb the ranks or just enjoy casual play, understanding the current meta is crucial.
