The Rising Popularity of Jujutsu Kaisen: A Deeper Look

Interesting Characters

One of the first things that stands out in JJK is that each character brings something unique and interesting to the table for the audience. Despite being the main character, Itadori doesn’t receive overwhelming love from fans because he’s written as a somewhat simplistic and dull protagonist. He doesn’t possess any extraordinary powers beyond his exceptional physical abilities.

As Itadori’s journey unfolds, we meet even more fascinating characters with special abilities. There’s Gojo Satoru, the strongest sorcerer, who possesses the Six Eyes and the Limitless Curse techniques, instantly making him seem cool. Then there’s the cursed spirit Sukuna, who oozes charisma and shows no regard for others. Itadori’s friends, Megumi and Nobara, bring both quiet intensity and lively energy when needed, leaving us both entertained and slightly heartbroken after the Shibuya Incident. And, of course, there are the incredible villains.

Simple Plot and Powerful Villains

The storyline and world-building of Jujutsu Kaisen aren’t overly complicated. The concept is easy to grasp: negative emotions and human resentment accumulate and transform into Cursed Spirits, which represent the negative behaviors in life, such as in hospitals, schools, and so on. The job of the Jujutsu Sorcerers is to exorcise these spirits and protect civilians, while the Cursed Users, Cursed Spirits, and Special Grade Curses serve as their adversaries in the ongoing battle for various purposes.

While the premise is straightforward, one undeniable fact is that Jujutsu Kaisen features some truly formidable villains. Ordinary cursed spirits aren’t a match for someone like Gojo Satoru, but villains like Mahito, who is despised for killing many beloved characters, Geto with his own unique ideology, and the ever-scheming Kenjaku, not to mention the ultimate antagonist Sukuna, make the stakes feel incredibly high.

Visually Stunning Combat

As a product of Mappa, the animation quality in Jujutsu Kaisen is another highlight of the series. The show features visually stunning combat scenes with powerful techniques and vibrant visuals. However, it’s not all serious; there are also cute and humorous moments, especially with Gojo, who often lightens the mood with his antics, even though he’s the most powerful sorcerer.

It’s hard to describe all the details, but if you’ve watched Jujutsu Kaisen, you’ve likely formed your own impressions of the jujutsu world, haven’t you?
