On the October 23 broadcast of TV Chosun’s “Perfect Life,” the daily lives of Lee Mi-young and her daughter, former T-ara member Jeon Bo-ram, were featured.
During the episode, Lee Mi-young shared her concerns about her daughter’s reproductive health, stating, “They say daughters take after their mothers. My daughters are in their late 30s and still single, so they went for a check-up. As I aged, I developed more cysts,” she revealed.
Lee Mi-young revealed her diagnosis of endometriosis and noted that after entering menopause in her early 50s, she experienced rapid skin aging, joint and muscle pain, and a weakened immune system, which affected her quality of life.
The two visited the hospital for a check-up, where Jeon Bo-ram admitted she hadn’t had a health check since 2024. Lee Mi-young was particularly worried about cervical cancer, and Jeon Bo-ram confessed she hadn’t completed her HPV vaccinations due to her busy schedule.
After their tests, Lee Mi-young learned from the doctor that her abdominal ultrasound indicated possible endometriosis due to her pelvic pain. The doctor mentioned that further MRI scans and surgery might be needed, leaving her visibly shocked.
As for Jeon Bo-ram, while most of her results were normal, the ultrasound revealed a uterine cyst about 1 cm in size, which startled Lee Mi-young. The doctor recommended a follow-up in 6 months and annual check-ups going forward.
Lee Mi-young reflected that her daughter is nearing 40, realizing that developing cysts is a sign of aging. She pledged to monitor their health closely each year.
Lee Mi-young began her career after joining the Miss Haitai beauty pageant in 1978 while in high school. She debuted in 1980 after being hired by MBC and retired in 1985 upon marrying singer Jeon Young-rok. Lee Mi-young returned to acting in 1991 and remains active in television dramas. She has two daughters: Jeon Boram, a member of T-ara, and Jeon Wooram, a member of D-Unit.
