Virtual content production company Oneness Korea has transformed Dawn, a former member of the idol group Pentagon and now a solo artist, into a new concept virtual artist named Edan Maverick.
Since late May of this year, Edan Maverick has consistently uploaded various works and unique concept content through SNS. From October 10 to 13, his first exhibition was successfully held at the Saatchi Gallery and Outernet in London during the 2024 FOCUS ART FAIR.
The exhibition was initiated by a proposal from the organizers who were captivated by the unique world of Edan Maverick’s works. His works, which expressed the theme of “Black Sheep” through the use of fabric in an innovative style, drew the attention of many artists and visitors at the Saatchi Gallery. The organizers of the FOCUS ART FAIR have already extended invitations for future events.
Moreover, Edan Maverick’s concept video, created using 3D and generative AI, received rave reviews as “fantastic media art” and led to numerous collaboration requests from various brands attending the event.
Edan Maverick is expanding his universe beyond traditional roles like singer or model by collaborating with active artists in fields such as painting, sculpture, fashion, ceramics and illustration. He is pursuing a new concept of “expanding the universe” and aims to distinguish himself from existing virtual humans by securing a variety of content and a diverse worldview, transforming himself into a unique IP beyond simple technological expression.
Oneness Korea, led by CEO Kim Jin-soo, who was involved in the project of Korea’s first virtual influencer Rozy, is pioneering new virtual content that combines 3D and AI technology.
Kim Jin-soo commented, “Edan Maverick’s concept of Black Sheep explores collaborations with artists in less mainstream fields like sculpture, painting, ceramics and illustration, sharing this diverse art with the public through SNS. This approach will change the way people view virtual humans and, as Edan Maverick’s content accumulates, its value will only continue to grow.”
Meanwhile, on August 2, 2018, Dawn revealed that he has been in a relationship with HyunA since May 2016. Their engagement was announced on February 3, 2024. In November 2024, HyunA posted on her Instagram account that the couple had separated.
HyunA and Yong Jun-hyung recently tied the knot.
