In 2013, at the age of 19, Choi Yeon-cheong participated in “Miss Korea”, and in 2015, she debuted as the lead in Super Junior’s “Magic” music video. She later appeared in music videos for groups like BTOB and KNK, gaining further recognition.
During her high school years, she had an extraordinary casting story. While she was riding a bus with her friends, an entertainment agency’s CEO parked his car on the roadside and ran to the bus, knocking on the door. Startled, Choi Yeon-cheong and her friends cautiously opened a window, and the CEO handed her their business card. This marked her entry into the entertainment industry.
Choi Yeon-cheong has steadily pursued acting, appearing in JTBC’s drama “Miss Hammurabi” and the film “Rampant”.
Her web drama “Where Your Eyes Linger” gained massive popularity in China, reaching the top of the drama topicality rankings on Weibo, further proving her popularity in the country.
She became the first Korean to sign with China’s largest entertainment agency Erdong Fanxing, and ranked among the top actors in their 20s in China in 2018 and 2019. She also ranked second in influence on China’s portal site Baidu and first in TikTok popularity, establishing her as a global star.
In 2020, she returned to Korea to resume her activities in Korea but was diagnosed with thyroid cancer, leading to surgery that same year. After the surgery, she took a two-year hiatus until 2024, focusing on cancer treatment.
Choi Yeon-cheong announced her marriage in 2024, topping real-time searches on all portal sites. She also signed with C-JeS Studio and announced her official return after three years, expanding her activities into Taiwan.
