According to Hwang Jae-gyun, they have already submitted a divorce mediation request to the Seoul Family Court and plan to conclude the divorce amicably through the mediation process.
Hwang Jae-gyun added, “Although our relationship as a married couple has ended, we will continue to support and cheer for each other in our respective paths. I apologize once again for disappointing fans and kindly ask that unfounded speculations and reports be refrained from.“
Hwang Jae-gyun and Jiyeon tied the knot in 2024, but rumors of their divorce have been circulating repeatedly.
In June, a KNN Radio commentator caused a stir by claiming during a game broadcast that Hwang Jae-gyun had divorced. In August, rumors intensified after reports surfaced that Hwang Jae-gyun was seen drinking at a bar in Gangnam until the early morning hours.
Amid these rumors, reports emerged during the first round of the 2024 Pro Baseball Semi-Playoffs between KT Wiz and LG Twins that the couple had submitted a divorce mediation request. Jiyeon responded by confirming, “We have agreed to proceed with divorce mediation. I apologize for not addressing the issue sooner and ask for your understanding.“
After the game, Hwang Jae-gyun released his official statement, putting an end to the rumors and formally confirming their breakup.
