Blackpink Members Shine in Media Value Rankings Paris Fashion Week

Paris Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2024 has officially concluded. Shortly after, Lefty magazine announced the list of personalities that generated the highest Earned Media Value (EMV) after this Fashion Week. EMV is a specialized metric used to measure the value brought to brands through media activity that is not derived from paid advertising or official media channels.

Specifically, according to Lefty, the star who generated the highest media value was Kylie Jenner. The billionaire, born in 1997, appeared at three fashion shows: Atlein, Schiaparelli, and Coperni. Notably, at the Coperni show, she had a stunning catwalk performance at Disneyland, closing out the Fashion Week season in the City of Light. Kylie amassed an EMV of $20.3 million.

Surprisingly in second place was Thai actor Apo Nattawin. He only attended Dior’s show but generated $14.3 million in media value after 16 posts on his personal social media.

In third and fifth places were Rosé and Jisoo (BLACKPINK), respectively. The Australian rose Rosé’s appearance at the Saint Laurent show, along with three posts, brought in $11.2 million. Additionally, the eldest BLACKPINK member, Jisoo, generated $8.6 million in EMV through two social media posts after attending the Dior show.

In fourth place for the highest media value is the rapper Cardi B. Less than a month after giving birth to her third child, this mother was busy attending shows at Paris Fashion Week.

She attended a total of six shows for brands Balmain, Rabanné, Rick Owens, Mugler, Vivienne Westwood, and McQueen. With six posts on social media, the mother of three brought in an EMV of $10.3 million.

Also appearing in the top 10 is Nam Joo Hyuk in sixth place with $8.5 million in EMV after attending the Dior show. Lisa (BLACKPINK) landed in eighth place with an EMV of $7.5 million alongside three social media posts.

Additionally, some other Korean stars made their mark in the rankings, such as Cha Eun Woo in seventh place with $8.3 million after attending the Saint Laurent show. Jang Won-young, after attending the Miu Miu show, brought in an EMV of $7.1 million and placed ninth on the list.

According to Lefty, these are the 10 brands with the highest media value after this Fashion Week.

Notably, four brands represented by the four BLACKPINK members as global ambassadors lead this ranking. However, a significant question arises regarding Chanel, which ranked third and generated $32.2 million, but Jennie (the global ambassador) did not appear in the top 10 celebrities with the highest media value.

Moreover, compared to Paris Fashion Week Fall/Winter 2024, which took place earlier this year, Chanel saw a remarkable growth of 124% in EMV. The departure of former Artistic Director Virginie Viard, along with rumors and speculation about her successor, may be the main reasons for Chanel’s sudden “hot” status during this Fashion Week.
