The 59th Baeksang Arts Award was held at the Paradise City Hotel in Incheon at 5:30 p.m. on April 28th, 2024 and hosted by three MCs Shin Dong Yeop, Suzy, and Park Bo Gum.
At the award ceremony, Park Ji Ah, who starred in Netflix’s original series “The Glory” as Jang Mi Hee, the mother of Moon Dong Eun (Song Hye Kyo), showed up on the stage as the presenter for Theater Award.
Park Ji Ah said, “Many people know and recognize me as Dong Eun’s mother, but I’m actually not a scary person like that in real life”.
She added, “When I was a high school student, I thought about acting at the festival in my high school. People applauded me, who was just a normal student, as if I was someone special and important. At that moment, I felt like I was shining. And I’m experiencing it again these days after a long time”, revealing how she has been receiving so much love after the success of “The Glory”.
Debuting in the 2002 film “The Coast Guard”, Park Ji Ah was known for her work with the theater company Chaimu. As a skilled actress, she left a strong impression with her roles, notably playing Asako’s mother in the 2007 film “Epitaph” and the director’s ghost in the 2018 film “Gonjiam: Haunted Asylum”. More than anything, she made a lasting impact on viewers globally through her role as Jung Mi Hee, the mother of Song Hye Kyo‘s character Moon Dong Eun, in Netflix’s original series “The Glory“.
Park Ji Ah’s funeral will be held at the Asan Medical Center in Seoul.
