NewJeans’ agency, ADOR, held a board meeting on September 25th and decided to hold an extraordinary shareholders’ meeting to re-elect former CEO Min Hee-jin as an in-house director.
It stated that Min Hee-jin’s term as an in-house director can be extended to 5 years, but her return to the CEO position was “unacceptable.”
In response, Min Hee-jin clarified her strong intention to return to the CEO’s position, saying, “Since the appointment of an in-house director is decided by HYBE, the major shareholder, it is not certain at this point whether Min Hee-jin will be re-elected as an in-house director.”
Previously, the members of NewJeans hosted a live YouTube broadcast on the 11th to demand HYBE to return Min Hee-jin to her CEO position by the 25th. In response, ADOR offered to give Min the in-house director position to produce for NewJeans in the next 5 years.
Min Hee-jin rejected the offer and said, “They only said they will extend the contract period, but they did no sincere actions, such as deleting numerous toxic clauses (including the right to unilaterally terminate the contract) in the draft, at all. The expression “proposing a compromise” is just a worldplay.”
