Lee Se-young Begged for Audition + Worked Part-Time: No Jobs as an Adult

On September 25, actress Lee Se-young appeared as a guest on the tvN variety show *You Quiz on the Block*.

Here, Lee Se-young opened up about her experiences after transitioning from a child actor to an adult actor. She recalled, “On Wednesdays, I would have 12 hours of classes starting at 9 AM and then head straight to the Daegu filming set. If I missed class, I had to submit a report as a substitute for attendance. I would walk around while listening to lessons, and I drank eight espressos. I heard that even actors take acting lessons, and I realized I wasn’t a great actor myself. So, I started attending acting academies to give my best effort.”

The actress continued, “At that time, I felt like I was at the edge of a cliff. What I could do was no different from a rookie, but I was a second-hand rookie. It was a forced break, but I was basically unemployed. During that period, I worked part-time. People would ask me if I was okay, and I would respond, ‘Why wouldn’t I be?’ I focused only on what was important.”

Yoo Jae-suk then asked, “I heard you went to the agency office so often that you even had your own desk there. What did you do?“, to which Lee Se-young replied, “I was trying to make my presence known. There were about twenty actors at the agency, but I wanted them to remember me. I even moved to a place closer to the office. I was so anxious back then, but being closer to the office wasn’t going to solve anything. I knew that something had to change, so I would ask, ‘Is there anything I can do?’ or suggest having a meal together. I would even look at scripts that hadn’t been offered to me and begged for a chance to audition.”

“I was always confident. I thought maybe they were just giving me a chance. One day, I was talking with the head of the company about scripts and expressed that I wanted to give it a shot. That’s how I ended up playing the zombie girl in the drama ‘A Korean Odyssey’. At first, the character didn’t even have a name. I had many conversations with the director and eventually got the role”, the actress confessed.

On the same day, Lee Se-young also reveals how she has a deep bond with Park Eun-bin since they were fellow child actresses.
