The K-pop scene is about to witness the debut of a unique rookie boy group, 1VERSE, under the label Singing Beetle. This group stands out not only for its diverse lineup but also because two of its members, Yoo Hyuk and Kim Seok, are defectors from North Korea, adding a new layer of intrigue to their debut story.
1VERSE consists of four members from different countries, each bringing their own distinct experiences and backgrounds:
- Yoo Hyuk (North Korea, born 2000)
- Kim Seok (North Korea, born 2000)
- Murata Aito (Japan, born 2005)
- Kenny (Chinese-American, born 2002)
Yoo Hyuk and Kim Seok’s journey from North Korea to the K-pop stage is nothing short of extraordinary. Due to the relatively complex relationship between North and South Korea, the debut of two North Korean members in South Korea is likely to spark significant controversy along with negative opinions directed at the two male idols.
Additionally, the fact that none of the four members hold South Korean citizenship could be a major disadvantage for the group in terms of garnering domestic audience support. However, let’s look forward to their debut in the near future.
