When asked about what she has learned through her work, Han Seung Yeon, a member of the group KARA and an actress, replied during a recent interview, “The time I spent as an actress has become longer than my time as a singer. I feel both excitement and pressure about how the audience will perceive this film and whether they will choose to watch it.”
Released on July 5th, My Worst Neighbor is a romantic comedy that tells the story of would-be musician Seung Jin (Lee Ji Hoon), who shares his daily life with Hong Ra Ni (Han Seung Yeon), a figure designer, separated only by a thin, soundproof wall. Han Seung Yeon portrays Ra Ni, a figure designer who works from home 24/7 due to her social anxiety disorder caused by past emotional scars.
My Worst Neighbor is a remake of the 2016 French film “Un peu, beaucoup, aveuglément” (“Blind Date”). Han Seung Yeon introduced the differences from the original, saying, “Except that a wall appears in this film, everything else is different. In the original, Ra Ni is depicted as sexy, but she is a small, protective character that triggers maternal instincts here.”
Regarding the character with social anxiety disorder, she stated, “In fact, many people suffer from it to the extent that it doesn’t seem unusual. Even people around me are struggling with it. Therefore, capturing the characteristics of anxiety wasn’t very difficult.”
