A representative from Company On, which is Lee Je-hoon’s agency, stated on October 13th to Newsen, “Lee Je-hoon has confirmed his appearance in SBS’s ‘Taxi Driver 3’.”
Earlier, according to Sports Seoul on Oct 7th, the three actors have confirmed their appearances in “Taxi Driver 3”. Although the production for “Taxi Driver 3” was confirmed in April last year, casting decisions remained unclear until now. In the midst of this, the three lead actors of “Taxi Driver” have decided to return simultaneously.
The “Taxi Driver” series is based on the webtoon of the same name. It follows the story of Rainbow Taxi Company and its driver Kim Do-gi, who carries out personal revenge on behalf of victims who have been wronged. The unique concept of a taxi driver hunting down villains has provided dynamic entertainment.
Since its premiere, “Taxi Driver 2” consistently broke its own viewership records each week. It easily surpassed the top ratings of season 1, with a peak rating of 20.9% (according to Nielsen Korea, nationwide).
“Taxi Driver” has also gained immense popularity overseas, establishing itself as a successful IP for SBS. Within ten days of its release on Viu, the largest OTT platform in Asia, the series ranked as the most-watched work in 16 regions, including Hong Kong, across Southeast Asia, the Middle East and Africa.
On the international drama review site MyDramaList, the series earned a high rating of 8.8, and it even topped the popularity ranking for ongoing Korean dramas.
Lee Je-hoon, who starred in both season 1 and season 2, has been confirmed to return for season 3. He will once again play the lead role of Kim Do-gi, a former special forces soldier and the representative driver of Rainbow Taxi Company. In “Taxi Driver 2”, Lee Je-hoon displayed versatility by taking on various personas, showcasing his “multi-persona play”.
Kim Eui-sung, who has also confirmed his return, will reprise his role as Jang Sung-chul, the head of both the Blue Bird Foundation, which supports victims of crime, and Rainbow Taxi Company, which punishes perpetrators with force. Pyo Ye-jin will return as Ahn Go-eun, the genius hacker of Rainbow Taxi Company.
“Taxi Driver 3” is scheduled to begin filming in the latter half of this year, and it will air in 2025.
