The Glory Cast Members: Then vs Now, How are They Faring?

With its extreme popularity, Netflix K-drama “The Glory” has launched off the career of many cast members, at the same time cementing the established positions of star actresses like Song Hye-kyo.

Now, almost 2 years after the series concluded, its cast members have experienced various fates.

Below is a detailed look into the current status of “The Glory” cast members.

Song Hye-kyo

Via her role as the female lead Moon Dong-eun, Song Hye-kyo underwent a complete transformation compared to her previous melodramatic works. The explosive popularity of “The Glory” is said to have revived Song Hye-kyo’s prestige and fame in the industry after a period of lack-luster projects.

Following “The Glory”, Song Hye-kyo has been filming the movie “Dark Nuns”. She was supposed to join the cast of the drama “The Price of Confessions” alongside Han So-hee, but the project fell through.

Lim Ji-yeon

With her viral villainous role in “The Glory”, Lim Ji-yeon was catapulted to top-star status with various commercials and new acting projects. She also earned a Baeksang Awards for Best Supporting Actress, and has since taken on various different works, including K-dramas like “The Killing Vote” and “Lies Hidden in My Garden“, as well as the action movie “Revolver”.

Alongside career success, Lim Ji-yeon also enjoyed great news in her personal life. In particular, the actress got together with “The Glory” co-star Lee Do-hyun, and the couple has maintained a heart-fluttering romance ever since.

Lee Do-hyun

Despite being slightly “overshadowed” as the male lead of “The Glory”, Lee Do-hyun’s career has witnessed great improvements following the Netflix series’ conclusion. Particularly, the male actor has received critical praise and commercial success with his later works, including viral series “The Good Bad Mother” and box-office hit “Exhuma”.

Additionally, despite enlisting quite soon following his explosive fame, Lee Do-hyun still managed to release a decent number of new works (such as “Sweet Home” Season 3 and cameo in “Death’s Game”) and even maintain a happy love life with Lim Ji-yeon.

Jung Sung-il

After securing success as the “sexy” husband of Lim Ji-yeon in “The Glory”, Jung Sung-il took time to consider his future projects. So far, the actor has participated in the 2024 movie “Uprising” and is currently filming two other movies, “The Interview” (tentative title) and the movie adaptation of famous Korean web novel, “Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint”.

Park Sung-hoon

Playing a rather despicable role in “The Glory”, Park Sung-hoon attained great fame, but also with great cost. According to the actor, he got cursed a lot in real life and did not receive any endorsement offer due to his “bad” image.

Nevertheless, he secured various offers for new acting projects, including famous K-dramas “Queen of Tears” and Season 2 of “Squid Game”.

Kim Hieora

Kim Hieora received rave reviews for her performance of drug addict and former bully Lee Sa-ra in “The Glory”. Following the viral series, she continued to garner praise with the impressive appearance of a villain in Season 2 of “The Uncanny Counter”.

However, the actress’ career went to a halt after media outlet Dispatch exposed her past involvement with “Big Sangji,” a notorious iljin (school bullying) gang at Sangji Girls’ High School, known for stealing money, violence, and verbal abuse.

While Kim Hieora admitted to being a part of Big Sangji herself, she denied having committed school violence and later declared an end to the scandal by resolving it with involved parties.

While public’s reactions are not exactly positive even after said declarations, Kim Hieora plans to expand her career to Hollywood.

Cha Joo-young

Compared to her fellow “The Glory” co-star, Cha Joo-young did not participate in many projects following the conclusion of this series. So far, she has only filmed the weekend drama “The Real Has Come!” and the upcoming historical drama “Wongyeong” (tentative title”.

Despite receiving praise for her acting in “The Glory”, Cha Joo-young was criticized for her fake and stiff expressions in “The Real Has Come”, causing a controversy.

Park Ji-ah

Despite her relatively short appearance in “The Glory”, actress Park Ji-ah, who played the mother of female lead Moon Dong-eun, was the talk of town for days with her impressive frenzied acting performance. Following “the Glory”, she played small roles in projects such as “Strong Girl Nam-Soon”.

On September 30, the actress passed away while battling cerebral infarction. She was 52 years old.
