BIBI’s Best New Actress Win at ‘Baeksang’ Sparks Comparison to Ji Hyun-woo’s Meme

On May 7th, BIBI attended the 60th Baeksang Arts Awards held at COEX in Samsung-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul.

Making her debut as a singer in 2019, BIBI expanded her career to acting and has been active as an actress under her real name Kim Hyung-seo. Playing the role of Yeon-gyu (Hong Xa-bin)’s step-sister Kim Ha-yan and Lee Hae-ryeon in “The Words of Evil”, BIBI was nominated for Best New Actress in both the TV and Film categories.

In the end, BIBI was named the winner of Best New Actress in the Film category. BIBI, who did not expect to win an award and was just enjoying the awards ceremony with a bright smile, opened her eyes wide and pointed at herself with trembling hands when her name was called out. Rushing up to the stage with the support of senior actor Song Joong-ki and director Kim Chang-hoon, BIBI confessed, “I didn’t know I would win an award so I haven’t prepared anything to say”.

Seeing BIBI’s confused expression, Song Joong-ki and other members of “Hwaran” team couldn’t hold back their laughter.

This moment of BIBI at the 60th Baeksang Arts Awards spread on social media and in online communities. In response, many netizens pointed out that it reminded them of Ji Hyun-woo’s legendary meme when he was announced as a Daesang winner at the 2024 KBS Drama Awards.

After making a successful comeback as a singer with the hit song “Bam Yang Gang”, BIBI even gained recognition as actress Kim Hyung-seo with this Baeksang award. She is expected to star in SBS’s new drama “The Fiery Priest 2” as detective Goo Ja-young.
