Tae-ho really takes center stage this week after he gets arrested on false embezzlement charges courtesy of his loving aunt Sook-hyang. He wasn’t unprepared, though. In fact, he and Halmeoni knew this would happen and use this opportunity to make a deal with the prosecutor. Tae-ho turns the tables on Sook-hyang, going after her and his uncle. But Tae-ho isn’t the only one in hot water over the embezzlement. Hyo-sung is his direct report, and seeing as he didn’t follow Mr. Yeom’s orders to become his personal spy, his job is on the line. With nothing left to lose at Taesan, Hyo-sung trusts in Tae-ho’s integrity and helps him locate that director in the U.S. that Halmeoni has been looking for.
Luckily, Hyo-sung is warming up to Tae-ho because it looks like they’re about to become in-laws. Tae-ho proposed to Hyo-shim (the prison visitation area may not be the most romantic proposal spot, but it is memorable), and she accepted. Now that her mom has found success with her newly opened café and even promises to pay Hyo-shim back with interest, maybe she won’t be unbearable when she discovers her soon-to-be son-in-law is a chaebol. Hyo-do is doing enough chaebol gold digging for the whole family – he’s been going around meeting with Tae-hee’s family members behind her back, hoping to ride their coattails. He does overhear some of Sook-hyang’s antics, though, so maybe that’ll scare him straight.
Meanwhile, Tae-min is a little skeptical about the circumstances of Tae-ho’s arrest, but he’s always been a momma’s boy, so it takes him a while to realize how truly villainous his mother is. Tae-hee is the one who bursts his naive bubble and exposes her mom’s heinous lies, including the whole Halmeoni death fake-out. Tae-min takes this hard and needs to see things for himself, so he snoops around Tae-ho’s car GPS for recent locations, which takes him right to Halmeoni. Tae-min is on the precipice of villainy, but he isn’t over the edge yet. Is it too much to hope for that he’ll choose Team Halmeoni?
