Netflix announced on Feb 22nd that they have confirmed the production of the original series “Melo Movie” and cast Park Bo-young, Choi Woo-sik, Lee Jun-young and Jeon So-nee.
“Melo Movie” is a youth romance drama that tells the story of Ko Gyeom, a film critic, and Kim Moo-bi, who works in the film industry.
Netflix explained, “It portrays a movie-like time where ambiguous youths who want to love and achieve their dreams discover each other, inspire each other and overcome trauma.”
Choi Woo-shik will play Ko Gyeom, who dreams of watching all the movies in the world and becomes a film critic from being an extra.
Park Bo-young will portray Kim Moo-bi, who enters the film industry with a mix of love-hate and curiosity toward her father, who valued movies more than himself.
In addition, Lee Jun-young will play Hong Si-jun, who considers himself a genius but is an unknown composer in reality, while Jeon So-nee will portray Son Joo-ah, Hong Si-jun’s former lover and a screenwriter.
“Melo Movie” is directed by Oh Choong-hwan, known for “Castaway Diva” (2024), “Big Mouth” (2024), “Start-Up” (2020) and “Hotel Del Luna” (2019), and written by Lee Na-eun, the writer of “Our Beloved Summer” (2024).
