Criticism Grows Towards ‘Marry My Husband’ Before Finale

With only 2 episodes left, “Marry My Husband” is about to officially conclude after a globally sensational journey. While the first 10 episodes received overwhelming praise for its intriguing storyline and near-perfect performances from the cast, the current phase is met with considerable criticism.

However, Korean audiences are collectively expressing disappointment with the overly exaggerated creative narrative, which deviates from the original work of “Marry My Husband”. These comments began surfacing when the character Yu Ra (played by BoA), Ji Hyuk’s fiancée, made her appearance. In the latest two episodes, 13 and 14, these criticisms have become more vehement.

Originally absent in the webtoon (but present in the web-novel), most details related to the character Yu Ra are creations of the screenwriter. Upon her introduction, “Marry My Husband” gradually shifts towards unnecessary revenge-fueled melodrama.

Many comments argue that Yu Ra is an excessive character, exemplified by scenes where she conspires with Soo Min and Min Hwan to plot the murder of Ji Won (played by Park Min Young) after Ji Hyuk transfers a fortune in assets to her name. This plot point is deemed excessively heavy-handed, illogical, and inconsistent with the original spirit of “Marry My Husband”, a revenge-themed yet humorous drama with many humane elements revolving around self-improvement and healing.
