Once again, Hyo-shim is nowhere close to achieving the dream of an independent life. With a hundred thousand dollars (!!) of her savings drained by her mom, Hyo-shim is forced to return to the loan sharks to make up the balance of Hyo-joon’s settlement. Of course, like the stuck-up dolt he is, Hyo-joon thinks Mi-rim pretended to be a lawyer to get the victim to settle, and not a single word of gratitude escapes his lips. Instead — after a “who is the worst son?” argument with his brothers — he blames Mi-rim for butting in when she should have allowed him to go to prison. By the way, we learn that Hyo-joon directed a few films in the past, and as an aspiring actress, Mi-rim is all the more interested in him. But I think the show is doing a disservice to Mi-rim by trying to pair her up with Hyo-joon because he doesn’t deserve her. Not with that attitude of his.
The brothers’ argument also leads to a rift between Hyo-do and Tae-hee, and Hyo-do moves out of their apartment. For someone who raised concerns about the source of Tae-hee’s money, Hyo-do has no problem planning to start a new business by selling off the luxury watch she bought for him. Tsk. Looks like he learnt nothing from his previous failed business. At least, Tae-hee seems to be slowly maturing and serious about getting her life together. As for Hyo-sung, nothing much has changed on the home front. But at work, he has been transferred from Tae-ho’s team to a new (and seemingly made up) department as per Sook-hyang’s grand plan of destabilizing Tae-ho. Notwithstanding, Tae-ho is getting by just fine, and his sportswear launch is a hit.
Tae-min doesn’t mind that his cousin is doing well at work, but he draws the line at Tae-ho getting Hyo-shim to model for the brand — and being friends with her generally. But Tae-ho reiterates that he doesn’t need Tae-min’s permission when it comes to Hyo-shim. Tae-min’s obsession with Hyo-shim has finally thrown her into the direct line of fire with Soo-kyung and Sook-hyang — who is pissed off that her son is in love with a woman who has the audacity to make him wait. Jeez! In the meantime, Sook-hyang reveals that Halmeoni is alive to stop her husband’s sorrow-induced drinking sessions. But with Chairman Kang in such a volatile state, I wonder if that’s a good idea.
