Don’t you just hate it when you’re short a few million dollars to produce a drama with your dream team of actors, writers, and directors? *pouts* Well, we found a way to scratch that itch!
Introducing the new Dramabeans community series Cast Away — where Beanies can advocate for their chosen actors and creatives in imaginary roles.
How it works: Each week, we’ll share a hypothetical K-drama plot with you. In the comments, discuss who you think is the perfect cast to play the roles in this imaginary show.
You can also go wild and introduce more characters, rename the show, pick your favorite director, etc. Who knows? Maybe our collective wishing will manifest fantasy casting into reality.
This week’s K-drama plot: Answer Me, 2008!
In the early 2000s, as the internet and technology were beginning to transform daily life, a group of high school friends navigate the challenges of adolescence while exploring the new world of online friendships, chat rooms, and early social media. Amidst the backdrop of rapidly changing technology, the drama explores their bonds, love stories, and personal growth as they bridge the gap between the analog and digital worlds.
Who’s the perfect actress to join the list of Sung Dong-il and Lee Il-hwa’s pop-culture-addicted daughters? Who should play the friends who will mock her attempts at copying SNSD’s fashion? What about their family members? What is your ideal cameo story from the previous Answer Me dramas? So much to think about. (And yes, 2008 was 15 years ago.) Cast away!
Feel free to request a plot line for future Cast Away posts. We’ll do our best (beep-boop!) to serve a fun twist on it.
