My first impression of A Piece of Your Mind was: an abstract and slow-paced show. And the only reason I moved past the first episode was because I love Chae Soo-bin. I eventually got used to the unhurried pace and fell in love with the OTP, so much that whenever they were not on screen together I wanted the scene to be over immediately, and when they came on I wanted to slow down the scene even more. Ha-won and Seo-woo’s slow burn romance was the only thing I cared about in the drama apart from the soundtrack.
“Who I Strolled With” is by far my favorite of the OST, and listening to it feels like cradling a mug of hot chocolate while staring outside the window on a rainy day. It evokes a sense of healing, comfort, and butterflies in my belly, and this is probably because I associate the song with the OTP’s quiet and loving moments — the warmth of their smiles, the tenderness in their gaze, and the contentment of sitting around in silence and enjoying each other’s company.
Halfway through the sixth episode (after a bad day at work), Seo-woo declares that she needs some powerful healing, and the OST kicks in. The entirety of the song plays in the background as she seeks Ha-won out, and it culminates when they meet on their overpass. She pauses and they stare at each other for a hot minute; then, she walks past and he smiles. Gahhh!! There was no dialogue, but that scene tugged at my heart, and it’s one of those sentimental moments that just linger in your mind long after the drama is over. It’s a shame the drama was cut by four episodes due to low ratings, but I’m still hopeful for a Jung Hae-in and Chae Soo-bin reunion in future.
(Don’t forget me)
When we walked together, I remember you
The memory is delicately laid in my hands
I reached out to the night sky
And I made a wish for you.
