Team Dramabeans: What We’re Watching (July 1, 2024): Missvictrix and MistyIsles Catch Up on the Latest Dramas

So, what are we all watching this week?

What kept you reaching for more (or agonizing when there was no more), and what made you want to throw your remote through the screen? Time to weigh in…

See You in My 19th Life: I just love everything about this. I don’t know how they keep balancing the mournful yet fun and quirky tone, but it’s pitch perfect for me. Also, though I admit to not knowing much about webtoons/manhwa, this drama is clearly adapted from that source to me: the pale, tall, fragile hero who’s deeply in need of the lively heroine seems to touch on a romantic ideal that’s captured so well by the medium.

King the Land: I enjoyed the second week of this drama very much and laughed way way way more than I expected to. I simply adore how the plot just exists for the benefit of our OTP interactions, and so the real-life ramifications of mostly everything (e.g., being mysteriously MIA for the night) are ignored in favor of the hijinks, flirting, and failed flirting. Our leads are fantastic together, and there are some instances where I don’t know how they’ve managed to keep a straight face.

Miraculous Brothers: I didn’t really know what to expect, but Episode 1 was super intriguing. Granted, anything with an ex-literary club, struggling writers, and a stolen manuscript will have my interest.

Currently covering: Delightfully Deceitful

King the Land: Not sure how much longer I’ll end up sticking with this after all. I enjoyed Episode 3 well enough, but found myself reaching for other things instead of Episode 4, which is usually the first sign that I’ll be dropping a show. If I have time and interest, I may still pick it back up, but we’ll see how this week goes.

Heartbeat: You know, before K-dramas, I was never all that into vampire stories. They just weren’t my thing. But I’ve been excitedly waiting for this one since it was announced, and it did not disappoint! Have my tastes (haha) changed, or do I just really love Taecyeon and the campiness of it all? Further study is needed…
