Team Dramabeans: What We’re Watching (May 27, 2024) Recap and Reviews

So, what are we all watching this week?

What kept you reaching for more (or agonizing when there was no more), and what made you want to throw your remote through the screen? Time to weigh in…

Tale of the Nine Tailed 1938: Okay, E5-6 got way too creepy for me, but I’m still enjoying this so much! If you asked me to explain the plot in a way that made actual sense I couldn’t, but that’s kind of half the fun. The characters bring the madness to life. Also, I could just stare at Rang’s haircut and three-piece suits for an hour and leave completely satisfied. If there is one thing that has been 10/10, it’s the costumes. Kim So-yeon looks amazing in every. single. scene.

Tale of the Nine Tailed 1938: This show continues to be a blast, and I’m loving Hong-joo more and more every episode. I’m not sold on the mermaid romance, but I do love seeing Rang get all excited about her fighting potential while the other two foxes play giggly matchmakers. Also, I was reminded this week that the first season took occasional dips into horror territory, which isn’t my favorite (mostly because I absolutely HATE jumpscares). Thankfully, though, so far it seems to be sticking with creepy and unsettling instead of outright scary. And this may sound contradictory, but the idea of a ghost that steals people away into another… dimension? world? reality? dream?… is right up my alley, and I cannot wait to see more of that next week!
