Team Dramabeans: What we’re watching (January 21, 2024) – Missvictrix & Dramaddictally

So, what are we all watching this week?

What kept you reaching for more (or agonizing when there was no more), and what made you want to throw your remote through the screen? Time to weigh in…

Payback: Things are speeding along and I love our good guys, but I’m having trouble warming up to Jun-kyung. She was completely likable as a teen, but for some reason Jun-kyung in the present-day comes off as boring and flat instead of the righteous risk-taker angle I think they’re going for. But that’s a small complaint, since the drama is really good at building tension and layering this super complicated revenge scheme. There are a million power shifts and deals made per episode, and if it’s this crazy already I can only imagine how far all the players will go. Which brings me to the smoldering PARK HOON! I love him in every scene, and though he’s been given a bit more to do than scheme, I’m hoping we go a bit deeper with his character. Or he can just continue to punch mirrors in his three-piece suit. That’s fine too.

Strangers Again: This is fun! Kang So-ra and Jang Seung-jo are magic together. The jokes are funny, the tone is light, and the fighting is adorable — but we still get some weighty mid-30s issues on the table served with a side of jadedness. Add to that my big, fat crush on Jang Seung-jo and the way he whisper-talks and I’m all in. Now, if I can just hurry up and get over all the lawyering we had in 2024, I’ll be able to watch this drama as happily as I want to.
