Team Dramabeans: What We’re Watching – Missvictrix, Daebak, Grits, Dramaddictally

So, what are we all watching this week?

What kept you reaching for more (or agonizing when there was no more), and what made you want to throw your remote through the screen? Time to weigh in…

Currently covering: Mental Coach Jegal, One Dollar Lawyer

Love is for Suckers: Gahh why does it have to get so complicated! Though our wonderful Jae-hoon is going a bit too fast right now, I’m frustrated with Yeo-reum’s awful rejection (sigh, K-dramas). Meanwhile, the reality show continues to be just the cringiest thing ever to me; I keep siding with Yeo-reum for some authenticity to peek through in the final product but in the meantime I’ll just take it as a satire.

Love is for Suckers: I’m starting to feel a little sorry for Ji-yeon, but not because I actually empathize with her emotions. Instead, my gut reaction is more like, “Awww, you’re kind of pathetic, aren’t you?” I know that sounds harsh, but she’s supposed to be a mature woman in her thirties, and she’s crying heartbreak-level tears over a man she barely knows. Sure, rejection stings, but her reaction goes beyond that of someone nursing a wounded ego, and as a result, I’m mostly annoyed and just want her to go away. Meanwhile, the Yeo-reum and Jae-hoon love line is killing me. I wholeheartedly agree that it’s not the time for Jae-hoon to be pursuing her, but man did it still suck to see Yeo-reum reject him.

Love in Contract: I can’t believe I’m still hanging onto this drama. I hate more characters than I like, but I guess it’s just a train wreck I just can’t seem to look away from.

Alchemy of Souls: I haven’t finished this one (yet), but I’m steadily chipping away at it when I find the time. I absolutely adore the OST, and the visuals (CGI, set design, costumes, etc.) used to create this fictional fantasy world are gorgeous and creatively inspiring. I think when I finish this drama, I might have to a little arts and crafts project inspired by this drama.

Currently covering: Cheer Up, Love is for Suckers

Love in Contract: I’m getting a little bored. Since the beginning I’ve been trying to ignore how much I dislike Park Min-young’s character, but now there’s not as much fun stuff to distract from it. I hate how she treats Gwang-nam and how it’s always played for humor. At this point, I spend most of the episodes studying Kim Jae-young. I loved his hoodie that said, “Just look. Don’t touch.” — as if that second one was an option.
