So, what are we all watching this week?
What kept you reaching for more (or agonizing when there was no more), and what made you want to throw your remote through the screen? Time to weigh in…

Alchemy of Souls: I might be sounding like a broken record already, but I’m enjoying this show so much. Rather than have the super-detailed fantasy world/rules get in the way of my enjoyment, I find I’m having fun just accepting whatever the drama says or explains to us. The cast is such fun, and I’m thanking the drama gods that Jung So-min wound up in this role in the end; I can’t picture anyone else switching their demeanor/tone/accent in such a sharp — and hilarious — way.
Cafe Minamdang: I love how zany this drama is, but for some reason I feel like I’m not laughing as much as I should be, or want to. Is this a me problem?

Alchemy of Souls: Still just so much fun! Yul is becoming a fast and surprising favorite (well, favorite aside from our two leads) with his deadpan mannerisms, hidden snark, and overall smartness, and while I’m pretty much immune to SLS in general, I do hope he won’t get hurt too badly once he finds out the truth about Mu-deok’s identity. On another note, I’m also loving how hard Wook is having to work at developing his skills despite the massive head start he was handed. I fully expected him to be done with the binding bracelet after a training montage or two, and I was pleasantly surprised when that wasn’t the case.

Extraordinary Attorney Woo: Yup, this is my favorite currently airing drama, and the only one I managed to make time for this week. The epiphany whales and dolphins continue to be my favorite part of this drama, but I love everything else about it, too. So many things I enjoyed about this week’s episodes, but I think the highlight for me was the flashbacks to the beginning of Young-woo’s friendship with Geu-ra-mi and how it has carried over into the present. Also, Geu-ra-mi mistaking Min-woo for the “attractive” Jun-ho had me dying, especially when Jun-ho corrected her and she looked at him like, “Really, Young-woo thinks you’re attractive?” Bwahaha! I really hope we see more Geu-ra-mi and Min-woo interactions in the future. He’s really uptight, and I want to see her help him loosen his metaphorical tie and buttons.

Yumi’s Cells 2: What. Just. Happened. As a die-hard fan of season 1, I was starting to think that season 2 was letting me down. Part of the fun of the original was seeing inside the heads of both Yumi and Woong and comparing their different ways of thinking and interpreting the world — that was where most of the humor came from. This round, we weren’t privy to much of Bobby’s interior world until Episode 8. Until then, we only saw the perfect Bobby that Yumi saw. So when he had emotional earthquakes for someone other than Yumi, it felt like a punch in the gut because it came out of nowhere. After watching this week’s episodes, though, I see that was the point and my confidence in the show is restored. Its strength is its emotional reality, and if the intent was to make me feel what Yumi was feeling, it succeeded by totally wrecking me. Of course, then it turned it all around on me! Am I back on team Woong?! Because of the perspective, Bobby’s betrayal seems like the bigger one and I feel like I know Woong a lot better than Bobby. But the bigger question is: why do I even care when Writer Cell is in charge now?!
