Kiss Sixth Sense: Even with all the proper cuteness coming back this week, I’m getting bored. I’m glad this is only 12 episodes!
Alchemy of Souls: This was wayyyy more fun than I was expecting. I didn’t have any issues jumping into this fantastical and somewhat silly world, and the characters and their interactions are just as colorful as they should be. The comedy and fun factor carry the show, and I hope it stays that way. I can deal with the wacky CGI, but my only real complaint was all the exposition that was crammed into the dialogue. Our characters explain so many places and concepts and histories all for our benefit; it’s a little artificial, but I’ll accept it rather than be confused or wade through 4 episodes for the setting to be established. Anyway, this is a perfect weekend drama to escape to for a little bit, and I can’t wait for more!

Alchemy of Souls: This is so much fun to watch, and I can’t even pinpoint exactly why. Is it the fantasy setting? The gorgeous visuals? Jung So-min’s facial expressions? The Four Seasons quartet whose dynamic reminds me of my early K-drama days (Before Before Flowers, Sungkyunkwan Scandal, You’re Beautiful, et al.)? All of the above? Whatever the case, I’m here for it! Though part of me does wonder if the show is ever going to address the matter of the real Mu-deok — is she still in there somewhere, or did she die since she didn’t end up in Naksu’s body?

Alchemy of Souls: I’ve only watched the first episode so far, and I enjoyed it. I’m just not sure I’m in the mood for fantasy right now, so I might save it for later and binge-watch it all at once. The visuals and world building are amazing, and even after only one episode, I’m feeling inspired to create something from this show. For those of you who don’t know, one of my (many) hobbies is recreating K-drama scenes in miniature form, and I suspect this drama might end up on my growing list of craft projects. Maybe that’s another reason I should hold off on this drama; I’m already drowning in paint and glue.
Kiss Sixth Sense: The at-work flirting and secret meetings damn near killed me from the cute hilarity of the situation! This week I did catch myself overthinking the mechanics of Ye-sool’s ability a bit too much. Like, when she’s making out with Min-hu at the end of Episode 10, does each new touch of the lips send her to a different premonition of the future? How can she stay in the mood/moment if her brain keeps jumping around like a television flipping through channels? And what if one of the futures she sees is of Min-hu using the bathroom or something? Talk about a mood killer… I can only hope that there is some sort of destiny at play so that her ability only shows her what she needs to see in order to guide her to some specific moment in her future with Min-hu — perhaps the take-down of our mysterious stalker, for example. Maybe at that point, both of them will lose their special abilities just as quickly as they obtained them? That’s what I’m hoping for. Only two episodes left! Please give us a good ending to go with the rest of this addictive drama!

Red Heart: From start to finish, this was the Kang Hanna show! She met a great character, and delivered effortlessly. I wish I could say the same about Tae. I understand his character motivations, but I certainly don’t want to live under his rule. It’s a good thing that he has someone like Jung on his side to reel him in if he ever goes over the edge. Minister Park was more of a pendulum kind of character to me, sometimes I liked him, other times I didn’t. But I always respected how he stuck to his ideals on protecting Joseon in his own way. Who else wasn’t surprised that the minister of war was sent into exile? It remains to be seen if his daughter can follow through on her determination to be dowager. I think it was nice that the drama ended on this note — with the daughter nursing future ambitions — because, though the drama is “over,” politics in Joseon never really end.
It’s Beautiful Now: Look who got scammed while trying to scam his parents. I feel slightly bad for Soo-jae, but I feel even worse for Yu-na. As the father said, fans turned haters are usually the worst, and l bet his mum won’t let her off easily. But I guess this is where her boss comes in now to fulfill his destiny as a second lead. As always, Yoon-jae and Hae-jun continue to be my favorite couple in the show, and yaayyyy for the double date finally happening. Great grandma Kyung-soon remains my favorite character in the drama, and her friendship with her brother and Mi-rae’s grandmother is so fun to watch. I hope the show won’t attempt to pair her “oppa” and “unnie” together, so the trio can continue being the three musketeers of the yoga club without anyone feeling like a third wheel.
