Team Dramabeans: Our Current Drama Favorites

So, what are we all watching this week?

What kept you reaching for more (or agonizing when there was no more), and what made you want to throw your remote through the screen? Time to weigh in…

My Liberation Notes: It’s to the point where I am ready to pledge my full-fledged devotion to this drama, and set it on my shelf for the potential Best Drama of 2024 title. That’s how much I love it. Seeing the developing relationship between Gu and Mi-jung is just the most wonderful and transformative thing ever. This drama is great because it makes a thing out of the tiniest moments, glances, and happenings, and I think that’s one of the reasons why it’s so arresting. Also, #introverts.

Our Blues: This week’s episodes almost killed me, and not in a good way. While I won’t deny the realism, I didn’t really enjoy the teens’ story any more than I did Shin Mina’s. Also, why is the structure of the drama changing so much? I think I liked the longer holds on the story (like the three-episode arcs) instead of this changing focus every episode. If I complain, will anyone hear me?

Love All Play: I don’t usually go in for sports dramas at all. And then when I do, I’m so endlessly delighted that I don’t know why I won’t just remove my anti-sports prejudice. Because this drama is PURE SQUEE. The soft filter, the lighting, Tae-yang’s confidence crisis and attempts to push through hard times, the relationships between the characters, and of course, this couple. Pure sparkly magic.

Again My Life: I’m almost caught up now (episode 5)! I love the way Hee-woo is seeking out people based on what he knew of them in his past (er, future?) life. It feels a little sad, though, because he’s constantly making connections with completely new people — did he not have friends before, apart from that one fighting instructor? I also like that it’s clear he’s passionate about his line of work, not just as a means to personal justice, but because he genuinely cares about making the world a better place for everyone. I’m watching with bated breath, though, because I have a feeling all the things he’s changing will start having negative ripple effects he isn’t prepared for.
