Cheat on Me, If You Can: I have mixed feelings on Cheat. I remain a big Kang Yeo-joo (and Jo Yeo-jung) fan, and am a newly-minted Kim Young-dae fan, but Go Joon was wasted here as the caddish husband. I actually want him to return to the dark side for his next project because at least it’ll give him something to do, even if it’s just chewing the scenery. As for Mi-rae (and Yeonwoo’s performance), the less said the better. Her whole plotline would have been better served focusing on other characters or anything else really. As for the ending, it left me feeling cheated, like the showrunners were toying with me, but not in an interesting or fun way.
True Beauty: The last few minutes of Episode 14 brought out such a visceral reaction from me that I realized a terrible truth. I have post-traumatic Do Do Sol Sol La La Sol disorder (self-diagnosed). I hope I’m getting worked up over nothing though and that the final episodes won’t disappoint.
Forgotten: I’m going to be totally honest, I wanted something to tide me over before River Where The Moon Rises starts, and this film is one of the few Kang Haneul projects I haven’t watched yet. Having gone in with no idea of the premise, it turned out to be such a quietly creepy and terrifying movie. It’s a very wild ride, and the performances from Kang Haneul and Kim Mu-yeol helped to heighten all the twists and turns.

Run On: It suddenly hit me that there’s only one week left of this wonderful drama — I think I’ve been in denial. But, I really like where we are heading. Mi-joo and Sun-kyum seem to have reached a pretty solid place. I enjoy all of their interactions, but the device we ended on — switching from seeing them in the present, to their more tortured selves from high school — was a really nice touch. Run On is just random enough with its meta and references to be able to make a moment like this really work. And symbolically, I love everything about the fact that our couple are “seeing” each other in those forms. I still don’t know how Sun-kyum and Dan-ah are going to find a way around their super-controlling fathers, but I love the people they’ve found and the lives they’ve made for themselves, so… hwaiting!!
