Currently weecapping: Lovestruck in the City
Sunbae, Don’t Put on That Lipstick: I had high expectations for this one, being a huge fan of noona romances. And my expectations were neither met or ruined; they just went in a different direction. For one, I didn’t expect the cheating to be revealed so soon. And two, I didn’t expect the fake relationship angle (if Song-ah actually chooses to get her revenge that way). We’re starting off with a series of complicated situations, but I find them deliciously complicated.
True Beauty: I’m a week behind on this (Curse you, Time, for getting away from me!) but in no hurry, since I’m enjoying every bit of this dorky couple. I love them, but I almost feel bad for loving them because of poor Seo-joon and Soo-jin. It’s not easy being in a love square. Or watching one.
Mr. Queen: I’m ashamed of how hard I laughed at the McDonald’s joke… *hangs head*
Run On: Interesting week. It took me a while to warm up to Sooyoung’s character, but I thought her newfound feelings and her having no idea what to do with them was surprisingly sweet and genuine. Mi-joo was also full of surprises, as I didn’t expect Episode 12’s ending at all. Or, at least, I was hoping it wouldn’t happen.

Currently weecapping: Mr. Queen, True Beauty, and Sunbae, Don’t Put on That Lipstick
Mr. Queen: Things got intense this week. I didn’t expect that ending, but everything is ramping up now that everyone has started making their moves. When I originally saw the episode count for this drama, I worried there’d be tons of filler, but the plot is more involved than I expected. I’m looking forward to how recent events change dynamics going forward and what Cheoljong’s next move will be.
Get Revenge: Everything wrapped up okay, but I had honestly lost interest by the end. The drama started out fun and kind of quirky but turned more stereotypical and uninventive as it went along. I was disappointed we didn’t get more out of Hae-ra and Min-joon’s relationship since there was a lot to explore there, but it never really took off. Instead, we got the shoehorned in romance of the side characters. Overall, the drama wasn’t bad, but it could’ve been a lot better.
Run On: I love that even when we get the expected beats, there’s often a twist to keep it fresh like with Young-hwa’s hilarious emotional meltdown at Dan-ah’s office. The same can be said for Mi-joo’s character. Yes, she’s a poor and hardworking woman who falls for a rich guy, but she’s doggedly pragmatic, stands up for herself, and is confident. There’s none of that Candy optimism or timidity that often comes with the territory. The thoughtful way characters and relationships are developed is probably my favorite thing about this drama.
