So, what are we all watching this week?
What kept you reaching for more (or agonizing when there was no more), and what made you want to throw your remote through the screen? Time to weigh in…

Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha: Sigh, I really wanted to like this week’s episodes. I loved the confession and kiss from last week, but for some reason Episode 11 and 12 just didn’t work for me. Our OTP is giddy and cute but something about these interactions felt contrived and boring. It’s weak episodes like this that make you realize this drama doesn’t really have much of a backbone, or any storytelling structure really — it’s just a vehicle for cuteness. I’m usually not one to turn down couple cuteness, but something about this one rubs me the wrong way. I’m particularly frustrated with Hye-jin’s character. She’s flatter than flat. She hasn’t changed or grown in any way. She’s merely moved and fallen in love; we’ve seen nothing that tested her character, or forced her to change. In fact, I don’t even know if we’ve seen that for anyone. Has there been any character growth at all? Feel free to argue, but I’m thinking not. At this point I’m watching for the bean.

The Veil: I actually like the whole unreliable narrator thing here. Sometimes that tactic can be annoying, but framing it through memory and trauma is interesting. It lets you feel the frustration and confusion along with Ji-hyuk.
Dal-li and Gamjatang: This is like an old-school, zany rom-com but with a modern sensibility. It’s fun with just enough seriousness to make it more than fluff. I hope it keeps the balance and doesn’t tip too far over into the nefarious dealings storyline.
The Great Shaman Ga Doo-shim: I ended up waiting out the last few episodes so I could binge it in one go. Kim Sae-ron and Nam Da-reum were delightful from start to finish, and the plot was simple and fun. I’m so glad I picked up this cute little drama. It makes me want to watch more web dramas (as if I have the time).
