So, what are we all watching this week?
What kept you reaching for more (or agonizing when there was no more), and what made you want to throw your remote through the screen? Time to weigh in…

Imitation: Oh boy! It’s been a long time since I loved a drama this much and glommed so many episodes at once. In fact, I got to the dreaded point where I love it so much I’m afraid to watch more and finish it. Jun is so damn good here, and so totally entertaining — the level of silly in this drama is everything that made me fall in love with dramas so many years ago. It has all the improbable moments, the squees, the hilarity, great use of detail, and a cast that’s fun to watch. It’s the best feeling when you’re watching a drama and you feel like the writers and the actors and everyone in the production are really getting a bang out of what they are doing. That’s what brings a story to life, no matter the silly plot and premise.

At a Distance, Spring Is Green: I didn’t even realize this was based on a webtoon when I started watching, so I didn’t have any set expectations. While it didn’t offer anything revolutionary, this was a nice character-driven campus drama. I enjoyed watching our characters help each other grow into stronger, better versions of themselves. The friendships were the definite highlight; I could’ve done without the lackluster romance. Something about Joon and So-bin’s relationship never clicked for me – it felt forced. But let’s be real, the main love story was between Joon and Soo-hyun anyway. They even got the relationship montage at the end! They had great chemistry, and I enjoyed watching Joon pester his way into Soo-hyun’s heart.
The Witch’s Diner: Cheesy but fun. It’s like Mystic Pop-Up Bar but with more camp. I like Jin and Gil-yong as characters, but at times it feels like they’re in a much more serious drama. Then we hop back to our over-the-top witch played by Song Ji-hyo, and it’s like we’re in a B-movie. The dissonance is a little jarring, so I hope everything gels together a bit more in week two.
