As an avid consumer of both coffee and ramyun, when the powers that be presented me with the opportunity of reviewing one of the new BeanieBox options, I felt like a K-drama heroine embroiled in a tug-o-war of the heart between two great loves… nd needless to say – as with many relationships – my stomach won out.
When my box of joy finally arrived, I was thrilled to find it absolutely packed with noodle-y goodness: 7 different varieties of ramyun packages, 2 cups, and a bonus snack I’d previously sampled from the classic BeanieBox. Everything was delicious and the cups definitely came in handy for a quick snack when I was rushing.
The ramyun packets were a real treat to go through as I tend to buy one kind and having variety was a change. Everything was delicious, but I’m especially fond of spicy options, myself, so my favorite was the crab raw ramyun. I regretted not shopping ahead of time to add more seafood, so I’ve held off making they spicy seafood flavored packet until I can! There were regular options like beef and sesame, and I really enjoyed the raw and home-made rolled noodle packages.
I tend to prefer my noodles chewier (and my stove top is ridiculously hot) so rather than following the Golden Rule, I take my ramyun off immediately after it breaks apart in the pot. I also typically use a little less water to make the flavor stronger and avoid a bunch of excess broth. For the most part, I avoided my usual additions of eggs, garlic, veggies, etc in order to get the full taste of the ramyun as it comes and was happy with the results as I slurped away while watching my favorite shows.
Sadly, there’s currently no trinkets included in the ramyun box. I hadn’t expected there to be, but I really do love the merch items snuck into the other boxes like my pop socket from the snack box (and I was in love with @missvictrix’s sweet coffee thermos). Aside from that, however, I had a great experience with the box which allowed me to vary from routine. I’m looking forward to what BeanieBox has in store next (crossing my fingers for a loot box in the future!)
