2007-Born Idol Collapses Onstage During Performance: What Happened?

Recently, the girl group UNIS performed at an event, where they delivered several energetic songs, including a cover of the hit “What Is Love?” by their seniors, TWICE. Unfortunately, an unfortunate incident occurred towards the end of this performance. During the show, Kotoko, a member born in 2007, suddenly fainted on stage. The remaining members were shocked and immediately stopped the performance to check on Kotoko. Shortly after, the stage lights were dimmed, and the young idol was taken backstage to rest.

While UNIS was performing “What Is Love?”, the incident occurred.

The video clip of UNIS’s performance quickly gained attention on social media. Netizens expressed concern for Kotoko’s health, so the young idol soon posted a message to reassure fans. She shared, “Hello, I’m Kotoko. I’m here because I might have caused some worry. My health is gradually recovering with some rest. To keep everyone from worrying, I will take better care of myself. Thank you all for your concern. Thanks to everyone’s love, I’m getting much better.”

Kotoko was born in 2007 and is a member of the girl group UNIS, which was formed in January of this year through the survival program Universe Ticket. UNIS consists of members Jin Hyeon Ju, Gehlee Dangca, Kotoko, Bang Yunha, Elisia, Oh Yoona, Nana, and Lim Seowon. UNIS officially debuted on March 27th.

However, when the group’s lineup was revealed, UNIS shocked many when the ages of the members were disclosed. The youngest member, Lim Seowon, was born in 2011, making her only 13 years old this year. Additionally, UNIS has three members born in 2009 (15 years old), three members born in 2007 (17 years old), and one member born in 2001 (23 years old this year).

Because they debuted at such a young age, many people are concerned about UNIS and have criticized the group’s management company. With Kotoko appearing excessively thin to the point of fainting on stage, netizens continue to question whether it was the right decision to debut these girls, who should still be in school, so early and push them to work to the point of exhaustion.
