Kim Nam-gil Revives His Fiery Priest Character in New Teaser

They’re back! SBS has dropped its first teaser for its action comedy The Fiery Priest 2, featuring our returning hot-blooded trio Kim Nam-gil (Song of the Bandits), Honey Lee (Knight Flower), and Kim Sung-kyun (Moving). Let the butt-kicking commence!

We start the trailer by being reacquainted with our crew from Season 1: the short-tempered priest Kim Hae-il (Kim Nam-gil), the fiery prosecutor Park Kyung-seon (Honey Lee), and our equally crazy violent crimes cop Gu Dae-young (Kim Sung-kyun). Considering that the three of them are still punching bricks, smacking people with frying pans, and taking unflinching blows to the head, I think it’s safe to say they haven’t changed a bit.

Their new mission brings them to Busan, where a drug cartel led by Sung Joon (The Island), has taken over the city. While Hae-il preaches impassioned sermons to his congregation by day, by night he joins his buddies investigating the case.

And it seems like they have their work cut out for them, because despite their frankly crazed fixation to fight for justice, this case ends up requiring a lot of… creative methods of investigation. From being covered in panda face paint to camping out in an illusion museum, not to mention their constant bickering, our trio don’t making a convincing case for having all their marbles.

But thankfully, their mental states aside, if there’s one thing we can count on these guys to do, it’s to punish baddies and punish them well. As they beat up thugs left and right, we end this teaser on Hae-il’s philosophy that defined Season 1: “Someone needs to teach these devils that God exists.”

With the same team from the first season, writer Park Jae-beom (Vincenzo) behind the screenplay and PD Park Bo-ram (Through the Darkness) directing, The Fiery Priest 2 is slated to premiere November 8 on SBS.
