Keeping the porch light brightly lit to help those wandering to find their way, Disney+’s Light Shop draws us to their eerie doors, where we’re greeted by Joo Ji-hoon (Blood Free) and Park Bo-young (Daily Dose of Sunshine) in the newest promos.
It’s a stormy, rainy night when our teaser begins and the captions describe our story’s shop as the brightest place at the end of a dark backstreet. Here, we meet the mysterious shop owner Won Young (Joo Ji-hoon) who narrates that, “All sorts of people come to visit when night falls,” and we cut to the door ringing open on cue.
Conversing with one customer, Young continues talking about these odd strangers and Shin Eun-soo (Twinkling Watermelon) is sympathetic, saying, “It must be hard for you. But I’m relieved because it’s bright here. And because you’re here.” Nurse Young-ji (Park Bo-young) wonders, though, if that reliance on Young is something that can be shared and doesn’t fall solely on him.
Like moths to a flame, visitors are lured to this dusty corner of twinkling bulbs and, in the sequence, we catch a glimpse of Uhm Tae-gu (My Sweet Mobster), Seolhyun (Summer Strike), and Kim Min-ha (Pachinko), as well as Lee Jung-eun (The Frog). We then cut to Bae Sung-woo (The 8 Show) questioning Young on where they are and our hero deflects as the teaser comes to a close, explaining, “Wherever this is, is it not a world where people live?”
Notably marking actor Kim Hee-won’s (Han River Police) debut as a drama director, production for Disney+’s Light Shop also has scripts penned by the original webtoonist Kangfull (Moving). Slated to premiere on December 4, the mystery-horror will be streaming the first four episodes on that same day. With a total runtime of eight episodes, the remaining will be releasing two a week thereafter.
