The sleuthing begins in the newest teaser for KBS’s upcoming sitcom Dog Knows Everything, following our hero Lee Soon-jae (Family: The Unbreakable Bond) as he finds new purpose as an amateur detective, teaming up with dog Sophie to become the town’s new Sherlock and Watson.
You see, our story’s Lee Soon-jae (played by his namesake Lee Soon-jae) was once the nation’s revered actor. But a series of mishaps embroil him in scandal and we begin the trailer with Soon-jae being pressured to quit. He thus finds himself at Geoje Island to escape public eye. But he’s astonished to meet and hear the neighborhood dog Sophie speak – voiced by Bae Jung-nam (Mr. Sunshine).
Naturally, Soon-jae is in disbelief and Sophie is apologetic, feeling bad about startling Soon-jae. But Soon-jae is soon pestering the dog for information and an annoyed Sophie remarks, “Do I have to reply, just because you asked me to?” The situation is pretty serious, though, with a dead body discovered in the sea. And based on Sophie’s account, Soon-jae informs the police that, “It’s homicide, not suicide. This is a murder case.”
Constable Yeonwoo (Bittersweet Hell) has a hunch that Soon-jae is right, beginning her investigations, and Sophie later tells Soon-jae that someone confessed. Sophie also finds an important clue, revealing that Soon-jae’s son Park Sung-woong (The Killing Vote) witnessed the crime. As the danger grows in the closing sequence, we’re then introduced to the rest of our feisty senior avengers with Kim Yong-gun (Tale of a Good Witch), Yeh Soo-jung (Maestra – Strings of Truth), Im Chae-moo (Want a Taste), and Song Ok-sook(The Goryeo-Khitan War) joining our hero on Geoje Island.
Directed by PD Kim Yoon-jin (Revenge of Others, Handsome Guy and Jung-eum) with writing by Byun Sook-kyung (Nonstop 5), KBS’s Dog Knows Everything will be premiering on September 25 in the Wednesday-Thursday slot.
