What’s more important to a swindler than money? Not much, unless you’re talking about revenge. The upcoming crime-action sequel Player 2: Master of Swindlers returns after nearly six years, and our swindlers are back with an even bigger and bolder plan. The show stars original cast members Song Seung-heon (Black Knight) as leader Kang Ha-ri, Lee Shi-un (Bad Prosecutor) as hacker Im Byung-min, and Tae Won-seok (My Demon) as muscle Do Jin-woong. Joining the caper as the group’s new driver Cha Jae-yi is Jang Gyuri (Pyramid Game), and playing the enigmatic Jung Soo-min is Oh Yeon-seo (Cafe Minamdang).
The latest teaser opens with Ha-ri cornered on a rooftop as he tells his crew that there is 30 billion won (approximately $22 million USD) on the line. He claims that money is the most important thing, but I get the feeling that his tune will soon change. As our heroes laugh in their getaway vehicle, someone crashes into them and sends them flying.
Inside a shadowy warehouse that practically screams villain, a man calls our swindlers a bunch of neighborhood thieves and finds their audacity amusing. His men have Ha-ri surrounded with multiple guns pointed at his head, but even in this precarious situation, our leader barely blinks as he glares at his captor.
The swindlers have returned to take down evil, and Ha-ri prepares his own gun while vowing to kill his target. Of course, he can’t do it alone, which means some old and new faces will be tagging along to help him with his crazy schemes. He plans to sneak into their enemy’s territory, but as soon as he announces it, the teaser cuts to Ha-ri running into trouble. He grumbles at the number of foes standing in his way and starts swinging.
As Ha-ri and his team get into more fights, he says that with the size of their plan, they should at least catch a big one. His allies agree, and contrary to their earlier belief, they decide to go after something else instead of their usual prize: revenge.
Directed by PD So Jae-hyun (chief producer of Maestra: Strings of Truth) with scripts by Park Sang-moon (Eun-joo’s Room) and Choi Seul-gi (Overtime), tvN’s Player 2: Master of Swindlers will air June 3 in the Monday-Tuesday slot.
